About Me

Ferme aanrader!" (Elpee)
"Schitterend debuut. Een psychedelisch pareltje anno 2007!" (Henk Vereecken, DarkEntries.be)
"Met “Me And You” kunnen ze zelfs op de verliefde blikken rekenen van de grootste bakvissen in de klas." (Michiel, Soundslike.be)
(Cis Van Looy, Keys & Chords)
"Don't say goodbye' zingen ze. Nou, dat denk ik inderdaad niet. Check 1-2 zal weer menig podium sieren. Go check them out!" (FOK! Frontpage)
We bid you welcome to the sound of CHECK 1-2!
CHECK 1-2 gathered at the end of 2005 to test some ideas, and in a few months time they'd written a whole bunch of new songs. The guys knew each other quite well since they all used to play in a Dutch sixties garagerock band for a few years and played well over 250 shows all across Europe together. Result was that they found the sound they were looking for pretty quickly.
Most important from the beginning was that CHECK 1-2 didn’t want to be restricted or tied to any dominant style or influence. This resulted in a wide spread of styles in the songs of CHECK 1-2. Sixties? Check. Soul? Check. Alt.country? Check. Rhythm & Blues? Check-double-check.
They picked ten songs that seemed well-fitted for their debut album. So in April 2006 they recorded six songs, and four more in August 2006. They also invited Lodewijk Reijs (baritone) and Geert Rubingh (trombone) to blow some copper on the songs "You Got To Admit It" and "Sitting Outside".
All songs were recorded by Remko Schouten at IJland Studios. Mixing took place in October and was in the good hands of Henk Jonkers. In January 2007 the album was mastered by Zlaya. The album is yours to get at your local record dealer and is released in the Benelux by Munich Records. The songs you hear right now are three of the songs on the album. Feel free to download them, put them on your Ipod, mp3-player, walkman or whatever and listen to the sounds of CHECK 1-2 on your bike to school (be careful!), while you wait on the next bus, plane or train, or any other occasion.
CHECK 1-2 already played with great bands like Hospital Bombers, Fat Pete & the Sherpas, Dead Moon (US), Los Tiki Boys, Blood Meridian (CAN), 69 Charger, Alamo Race Track, El Pino and the Volunteers, The Sadies (CAN, awesome band!), zZz, Wheels On Fire (US), Jerry Given, Bettie Serveert, T-99, The Madd, The Movements (SW), The Crazy Mandingos (ES), The Bloody Honkies, and last but not least Arctic Monkeys (UK) at Tivoli in Utrecht!
If you dig the CHECK 1-2 sound, come and watch them play and keep in touch!
To conclude, the guys of CHECK 1-2 all play in other bands too:
*Fat Pete plays in The Dam, Parlandos and Fat Pete & The Sherpas.
*Sander plays in The Pedro Delgados, The Gentlemen's Club and Los Pompodoros.
*Jim Pacobs plays in The Bigger Beef Bonanzas and Los Pompodoros.
*Ernie plays in Fat Pete & The Sherpas and The Gentlemen's Club.
