ROOTSCLUB

About Me

The new album is ready to explode and is out in February on Rosa Records. The Rootsclub is lifting up the top of the box and see the first sunshine of the year. The Lazy Sunday Dream, Wilma’s, Tennessee Studs and Blue Moon Boys bring this group of people together and are a big storm over Holland. Rock and roll, Blues, Country, Tex Mex, folk and all the other influence come together. The Album got two cover.” Out On The Western Plain” is a Leadbelly song but the Rootsclub is using the spirit of Rory Gallagher’s version of that song and bring a great country feel inside. The other cover is “Highway Junkie” from Chris Knight. This song is on the album and when the Rootsclub is ob stage an up-tempo kick ass song. The pedal Steel and guitar battle are superb. Of course you hear the influence of the different band members in the Rootsclub. Doug Sahm is watching from up above down on this little crazy band from Amsterdam. He once said when he was playing in the Texas Tornados “We are older guys. We got a lot more energy than the kids do. We just do. I feel like the quarterback of a championship team”. The Rootsclub got that same feel. Doug Sahm is a big influence on the music of the Rootsclub. The Rootsclub is not a normal band because they are coming from all kind of bands who are still around. Rikkie van Doorn and Jan the Lazyman are coming from the Lazy Sunday Dream. They recorded with the Gourds from Austin Texas and build up fame in the world of music. Their last album Soulages brings them to the USA. The Songs of the Lazy Sunday Dream are covert by American bands like Caitlin Cary, The Gourds, Hazeldine, Carburetors, Roughshop & Tres Chicas. The song from the first album Midsland “Just Another War song” was in the list for months in the Top 400 anti war songs of Neil Young Living With War homepage. Bert Boot, Rene Windig and Harry Langeveld are from the Wilma’s a band who travelled in the world of the Carter family. After the lead singer Wilma Porskamp died there was a big hole left. Respected by a lot of fans and Fred Eaglesmith the Canadian singer/songwriter the Wilma’s got her place in the music bizz in the Netherlands. Bert Boot was the man behind the Naturals and played together with Louis Terburg. This band was travelling between France and Holland before they broke up. Louis Terburg got 25 arms and he can play a lot of instruments. He played is bands like de Raggende Manne, 4turoze Matroze and many more. Dirk Portegies is the rock and roller of the band. He is still playing true Europe with the Blue Moon Boys. He is also the man with the Gretch. He was also a member of the Jack Of Hearts a rocking band from the nineties. Roland van Beveren the Pedal Steel king from the Netherlands. He is playing around with his band the Tennessee Studs playing the old school country and Blue Grass. On the record there is Lazy Sunday Dream accordion player Jur Scherpenzeel on two songs. .A list of guest musicians is big who joined the Rootsclub in the Maloe Melo and on the road. Here is the list:Goesting (NL) Sonny James and the Sinners (USA) Josie Kuhn (USA) Tim Easton (USA) Brian James (USA) De Wilmas (NL) Sonny George (USA) Lazy Sunday Dream (NL) T99 (NL) Steve Conte (New York Dolls, Willy Deville) (USA) Sue Moreno (NL) Tennessee Studs (NL) Aart Schoevers & Arnold Lasseur (Hillbilly Boogiemen) (NL) Willie Vermie John (Zwanenkoor) (NL) Ron Accordeon (NL) Dirk Portegies (NL) Roland van Beveren (NL) Tim Knol & Kees Schaper (BeRightBACK) (NL) Paul & John (de Meervaart Clan) (NL) Mibetta van Os (NL) Carolyn Wonderland (USA) Nels Andrews (USA) Jeffrey Richards (Shine Cherrys) (USA) Tonya Lamm (Tres Chicas) (USA) Sara Bell (Regina Hexaphone, Shark Quest, Tres Chicas) (USA) Marcel Scherpenzeel (NL) Peggy (NL) Bram (NL) JIM (U.K) Fert & Jesse (Hackenshaw Boys) (USA) Jan Smit & the Stetsionets (NL) Jan M.G.
