He started listening to the early hardcore music back in 1992. Although, at 13, he was to young to be going to the big raves, his love for dance music started and progressed from there.
Lewis started DJing at the age of 15 under the name LS, and with in the year was playing local house parties and doing mixtapes.
At this time there were Jungle nights nights in Gloucestershire, with everyone having to travel out of the city, unitl 00Rude started doing some nights locally.
LS managed to secure himself a few early slots with the new promoter, which gave him the taste for playing to a live crowd. With no other nights in the area and only occassional early slots with 00Rude, LS along with friends Curious & System Addict saw no other option but to try and promote their own nights, under the name Omnipresence.
In 1997 they started their first night on a Wednesday in a 15th century undercroft, which ran weekly for about a year and gave LS and good grounding in playing to crowds and addapting to situations. Although only a small venue, this was the first weekly Jungle/D&B night in the county.
Feeling the need to get some well known DJs down to the county, they needed to look for a bigger venue, and found JoJos in Stroud.
From these nights LS played alongside DJs such as Randall, Andy C, Ed Rush, Bad Company, Fabio, Donovan Bad Boy Smith and J majik to name but a few.
The group carried on putting weekly and monthly evnts all over the area until around 2002.
By this time LS had been spending more and more time trying to write tunes, which meant less time to promote events and DJ, so he concentrated on progressing the studio side of things.
Working with UK hiphop collective No Morals Cru for years and had releases in Jamaica working with Jamie Irie, He has also become one of Gloucesters most popular sound engineers working on all music, but first choice for D&B.
Under his new persona, he teamed up with friend, Donovan Smith to help him with his label Sensor Records, and started to concentrate on writing D&B again.
Now in 2007, going into 2008, subverse has two record labels. Junction 11 Records which concentrates on Dancefloor DnB and 'Deep Soul Music' which is on the deeper end of the DnB scale. As well as this he has a recording studio called 'Deep Fill Studios' located 5 miles outside of Gloucester. You can catch Subverse on GFM Saturday 8pm-10pm GMT, on monthly rotation with Callide.
