Sensor records was set up by Donovan 'Bad Boy' Smith, old skool veteran from Fantazia & Obsession days, back in 2001. At the time Donovan was fronting the Street Beats collective from Reading, so the label was set up as a sister label to Street Beats.
The first release on the label was by Blue with 'Subversive b/w Deeper Down'. The track did well, but shortly after, Donvan and Street Beats went there seperate ways. Sensor recordings layed dormant until Donovan felt the time was right to re-surface.
In 2004 Donovan met back up with his old friend and production partner, Noel Newton. Noel had just recently started LOAD Media, a worldwide Vinyl distribution company. After discussions the pair felt the time was right for Sensor to re-surface, and so in 2005 Sensor re-launched with a double Aside from Neo, shortly followed by a release from Kinetic.
In the summer of 2005, Donovan enlisted the help of his friend Lewis Sinclair (aka Subverse), who eventually became Label Manager. Donovan has since taken a back seat in the running of Sensor, due to a hectic DJ'ing schedule and radio commitments, but still continues to leave his unique mark on the label.
2007's first release is from a group of London producers named Prolific.
'All Night b/w Sumba' , which is Sensors 9th release, is available from all good record shops NOW!!
