2BRoy "California Home Grown Reggae"

About Me

“2B”Roy Albert Welch......... It all started in the late 80’s when young BBRoy was ripping the mike at back yard parties and break dancing. Word started to spread about BB when producer Andre Wilmore who was then working for Jumping Jack Records in Los Angeles, ask BB to meet him at the studio where he was working at to do a demo, so BB did. In late 1992 Andre took BB to meet a close friend name Giorgio who was then putting a Rap group together name Project X on his indie label G-Strings Records. Giorgio wanted BB to blend his Reggae Rap style with the other two Rappers Lad and Dap. BB bust his style on a single title “Everyday Thing” which took off on the radio air ways, “we also did a video” said BB. While doing shows through out California with the group Giorgio was shopping the album. He secured a deal with Interscope. By early 1994 BB left the group because he never got paid and went back doing local live shows and club performances. BBRoy started producing his music T.V show “New Millennium Kulcha T.V” that airs on Comcast Cable Public Access channel. While working street promotions with a cat name “Cheeks” who had his own promotion company called Opium Promotions. BB work with Cheeks for two years and learn that side of the game. A Nigerian by the name of Ade Adeyeo who was changing markets from East to West with his label Adex Records ask BB to manage his record store and direct the label’s Promotion and Distribution departments. BB said yes and started to execute all he had learned from Cheeks, he launch the label and then quite to start record his own album. By 1998 BB was shopping his album to some friends he met while working for Cheeks. These friends got promoted from promotions to A&R but didn’t sign BB. BB took a break for a while to take care of some personal problems. While on his break word spread on the Compton streets there was a Youngman from Los Angeles busting West Coast Reggae flows on West Coast beats. This musical hype leak to D.J Slip Compton’s Most Wanted producer, who invited BB to the studio to appear on a few projects and mix tapes he was working on for C.E.O Big Dell DoGG’s indie label IV Life Records. This made the buzz in the streets grew for both BB and IV Life Records. In 2002 BB was back in the studio doing a new album, with a new style he perfected called “West Coast Reggae”, Various Artist compilations with his self and crew and Mix tapes. All this musical excitement to be release on BB’s Indie Label JAH BLESS MUSIC & FILM. “Don’t sleep on the “West Coast Reggae” representer”, said BB Roy………… 2BRoy aka BBRoy has been busting his "West Coast Reggae" stylee since the late 80's at backyard parties, then in the studios doing guest appearances on local rap artists record. 2BRoy then move on to doing live performances one of his biggest was the BoB Marley Day Festival in Long Beach, CA 1997. At this present time 2BRoy has perfect his stylee he developed called "West Coast Reggae" this is a combination of Reggae,Dancehall,WestCoastRap lyrics on gangsta tracks and Dancehall/Reggae tracks.
