Patrick "JJ"Anthony Smith ‘s aka “Tony†roots began in Kingston, Jamaica. He played drums and keyboards throughout the Caribbean and the United States with various major Reggae The Band he Play with S.W.A.M.M.P BAND open Show for Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, Peter Tosh, Steel Pulse, Third World, Black Uhuru, Dennis Brown, Sugar Minot, Gregory Issacs and The Mighty Diamonds, Beres Hammond, Bob Andy& Marcia Griffiths,Carl Darking, Ken Booth,Fyah Wyah, Leroy Smart, Heptones. Frankie Beverly and The Maze just to mention a few. The dynamic,vibrant, self-motivated, , energetic, Master of Reggae, Patrick "JJ"Anthony Smith has been a successful, flourishing working artist since the age of 13. His professionalism and magnetism as a musician has excelled since the early “70’sâ€. Tony Smith played in Bands like The Jet Set, Titans, Happiness Unlimited, Father Gooden, and Tour with Big Youth in the 70’s. His career led him to Bermuda. He also toured with Pluto Shervinton in the Totola,Virgin Isles. Performing with Don Carlos and Apple from Israel Vibration gave him all the confidence he needed to continue to make the business of music his passion. In 1982 “JJ†transplanted his musical roots to Pittsburgh, PA, following in Bob Marley's footsteps, as this was Bob's last concert venue. â€JJ†decided to make Pittsburgh his home. Pittsburgh welcomed this multi-talented, writer, arranger, producer, engineer and vocalist. Some of his muisc associates moved to Pittsburgh. Thus, the first experience of the authentic Jamaican Reggae could be claimed by Pittsburgh natives as local. This was the beginning of the S.W.A.M.M.P. BAND, which means “Sound Wisdom And Many Musical Powersâ€. Starting to play various venues locally, Pittsburgh embraced the S.W.A.M.M.P BAND and called them their own. The band toured in the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western States of the United States. Thus, the popularity of the band grew to legendary popularity. . Tony Smith is now a Producer and Recording Artist and currently the Primary Engineer at State of Hearts Studio in Pittsburgh, PA. He is musically exceptional, gifted and able to translate, emphasize and orchestrate any idea melodically. Offering the production of Roots Reggae , Lover's Rock, Dancehall Dub, and Caribbean Rhythms as well as other musical styles Rhythm and Blues, Soul Reggae, Jazz Reggae, Gospel Reggae, make him one of the Top Producers in the Pittsburgh area, utilizing all State of the Art equipment.
