Music:

Band Website: otmaroruiz.com
Band Members: These are the talented musicians that perform regularly with my quartet: Jimmy Johnson (Electric Bass) Carlos Del Puerto (Acoustic Bass) John Belzaguy (Acoustic Bass) Chris Colangelo (Acoustic Bass) Jimmy Branly (Drums) Chris Wabich (Drums) Aaron Serfaty (Drums) Vic Stevens (Drums) Ben Wendel (Sax) Katisse Buckingham (Sax & Flute)
Influences: Too many... really.... I'd say that I am the result of a BIG SALAD of countless influences from all the main stylistic fronts I have been exposed to since my childhood.... Venezuela, because it's geographical location, is a truly amazing country to grow in music.... : Classical Music, Film Music, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and Venezuelan Folklore.... On a regular day, I'd wake up listening to my father's tapes of film soundtracks, share a couple of hours in a mini-bus ride listening to the coolest Salsa (until I could rebuild my father's old massive car!!!), on my way to the Conservatory... to learn some Spanish/Classical/Barroque Guitar music, so that I could go to my nightly Straight Ahead Jazz gig, where, in between sets, I'd write the TV jingle to be recorded the next day.... on weekends... family gatherings in taditional "Criollo" style..... I feel so blessed!!
Sounds Like: Hot, sexy, sophisticated, unpredictable, mind blowing .... (according to my good friend Susan, who set this account as a surprise for me!!) .....
