About Me
Hi everyone! Here's my little story so far...
I was born in Teramo on August 9, 1977 and I began to play the piano and classical music when I was a child until the graduation, at 21. Then I started to pay attention to other ways of playing the piano I never realized until then, like improvising on a tune or without the sheet music, so I began to study and play jazz. Later on I also took part in jazz piano competitions, having the chance to get in touch with many different musicians from all around: in 2004 I played in "Premio Massimo Urbani" where I won the audience award; on september 2006, I was in Paris for the "Martial Solal Piano Competition" semi-finals, selected among 22 pianists from all over the world under 32 years of age. When I was there I met so many great young musicians and had such a great time...that I realized music and competition are two different and separate words that should never be put together.
I am very grateful to all the people I studied with until now, even those who didn't teach me much but only to play and be within the music, which is the most important thing; they are, among others: Marco Di Battista, Stefano Zenni, John Taylor, Norma Winstone, Rita Marcotulli, Stefano Battaglia, Diana Torto, Roberto Spadoni, Fabrizio Puglisi, Stefano Bollani.
I have played in many different groups, all of them with a different approach to improvised music:
PROJECT DELOS quartet is based on science-fiction atmospheres of early 50s (all compositions and concept by bassist Niccolò Faraci).
YO-YO trio plays almost totally improvised music based on polyrhythmic structures and themes by trombonist Andrea Esperti.
MOWGLI trio (with Niccolò Faraci on bass and Alessandro Blasi on drums) is a project based on our idea of music trio, without piano leadership, always very interplayed and exclusively based on our original compositions.
LATENZA ZERO (lounge music project by Bernardo Di Sabatino and Stefano Cascioli).
CRISTIAN GRASSILLI (brilliant italian songwriter).
Many other project will soon be ready to see the light...
