Since 1991, Harley White Jr. has been a prominent figure on the Sacramento music scene in a wide array of roles from pop recording artist with “Papa’s Culture”, as a creative force with “Blackalicious”, “Seventy”, “Original Heads” and “Dr. Echo”, as an award winning bassist, as a member of Latin jazz ensembles The “Habanero Trio” and “Frijoles Negroes”, and as an impresario presenting the WhiteNoise-- festival.Now, with the Harley White Jr. Orchestra, White returns to his musical roots as the son of prominent Oakland/Bay Area bassist, Harley White Sr. The HWJO is the culmination of 3 years of rehearsing and recording sessions. These sessions have produced a core group of musicians with a fresh, swinging, and sometimes soulful, but always stylish take on jazz standards.
