About Me

Native of Cordoba, Argentina, singer-songwriter ANITA ROBLES (who is affectionately known as "Ana" to her friends) has been performing a variety of styles and rythms for over 15 years in Spanish, English and Portuguese.Ana started singing and playing guitar before she became a teenager, abandoned a career in law, graduated from Opera School in Cordoba and worked recording jingles and background vocals in her home town. Her growing desire for singing and her love of jazz, took her to the United States in 1991 where she continued studies in vocal improvisation, percussion and guitar. In Los Angeles, she played with artists producer/keyboardist/saxophonist Larry Williams, Bebu Silveti, Grupo Velas, Luis Miguel, Placido Domingo, Daniela Romo, Kevin Lettau, keyboardist/producer David Garfield, Sekou Bunch, Gustavo Borner, Leila Faruhar, Katia Moraes, Scott Grimmes, Enzo Todesco, Cecilia Noel, Ronnie Gutierrez and many others. She performed in jazz clubs and on big pop stages through Los Angeles, San Diego and Miami...among them: The Baked Potato, La Ve Lee, Spazio, Ganghis Cohen, the Key Club, LA Convention Center, Coconut Teazer, Cafe Largo, The Gig, Tobacco Road, The Van Dyke Café, The Earth Day Festivals and the Fort Lauderdale Jazz Divas Festivals. Ana also studied portuguese and percussion while she lived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1993.After a deep personal experience in 1995, Ana began writing her own material combining jazz, latin and pop and released a CD entitled “UCANDOIT” in 2000 with the Vinka Band: Aron Serfaty, Rico Belled, Marcelo Caceres and guests like guitar player Vinnie D'Onofrio and bassist Dan Lutz; produced by her husband Larry Williams and engineer Dave Dunn.In 2002, after getting signed with publisher Maximo Aguirre with her latin pop songs in Spanish (demo compilation CD “CANCIONES DE AMOR SIN TERMINAR..”); Ana moved from Los Angeles to Miami, Florida, where she started performing with her Latin Jazz Band at the Cardozo Hotel on Miami Beach and other venues owned by Estefan Enterprises; and puts together the compilation cd "ANINHA". She also co-writes and performs with artists like Ivano Bellini, Cristian Zalles, Jose Negroni, Gustavo Arenas, Abel Pabon, Pepe Aparicio, Pedro Ferreira, Cesar Santana, Arthur Hanlon, Roberto Poveda, Gabriel Vivas, Mantra, Grupo Oriente. In 2004, Ana was invited to represent Argentina in The 2nd Festival Mundial de la Cancion in Puerto Rico and, Miami based Dance label SFP released vinyl single “DE COLOR” using the name ANABABE. That track in included in the compilation CD“Miami Beach House”.She has just completed recording her latin jazz CD: "LATINA SUAVE" with great argentinian pianist/producer German Nager and, guests guitarrist Jorge Nazar and drummer Hugo Ordanini, teachers from the great Cordoba Jazz School La Colmena. The CD has additional recordings in Los Angeles by bassist Hussein Jiffrey and guitarrist/producer Dori Amarilio among others.In 2006, on her return to Los Angeles, Ana continued promoting her new CD, and started a new project entitled "12 Steps to My Heart." She is now residing there in the big city by the sea.Ana is presently developing a program of “Music Healing” that involves special performance and sound energy healing for all kinds of body and mind unbalances. ______________________________________________________ESPAÑ OL:Nacida en Còrdoba, Argentina cantate y compositora Anita Robles, ha cantado una variedad de estilos y ritmos por mas de quince años en español, ingles, y portugues.Ana comenzò actuando y tocando guitarra en su adolescencia, abandonó una carrera de Derecho para estudiar en el Conservatorio Provincial de Musica y Opera de Còrdoba; grabando comerciales y coros para artistas locales. También estudió portugues y percusión en Brasil en 1993.Después de una profunda experiencia personal Ana comenzó a escribir su propio material comvinando Jazz, musica Latina y Pop; grabando en CD "UCANDOIT" (tupuedeshacerlo) en el año 2000 con Vinka Band: Aron Serfaty, Rico Belled, Marcelo Caceres and guests like guitar player Vinnie D'Onofrio and bassist Dan Lutz; producido por Larry Williams, Dave Dunn y John Bogosian.En el año 2002 firmo sus canciones Pop en español (compilacion CD "CANCIONES DE AMOR SIN TERMINAR ... ") con la editora de Maximo Aguirre y se radicó en Miami Beach Florida donde trabaja y compone con los artistas Ivano Bellini, Cristian Zalles, Jose Negroni, Gustavo Arenas, Abel Pabon, Pepe Aparicio, Pedro Ferreira, Cesar Santana, Arthur Hanlon, Roberto Poveda, Gabriel Vivas, Mantra, Grupo Oriente. En el 2004, Anita fue invitada a representar a Argentina en el segundo Festival de la Canción en Puerto Rico; y su canción "DE COLOR" fue incluida en la compilacion de musica dance "Miami Beach House" (del sello SFP).En el año 2006 graba su disco de Jazz Latino "LATINA SUAVE" con productor German Nager y con invitados como los guiatarristas Jorge Nazar, Marcelo Caceres, baterista Hugo Ordanini y otros excelentes profesores de la escuela de Jazz LA COLMENA en Córdoba, Argentina. Este cd tambien cuenta con la participacion de los grandes musicos americanos Dori Amarilio, Hussain Jiffry, Aaron Serfaty.En su retorno permanente a Los Angeles, terminó un nuevo proyecto titulado "12 Steps to My Heart" y continua sus estudios de Musico-Terapia sin abandonar sus actuaciones en diferentes clubs locales de Jazz.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3nzK1iqr6o
