LOVIN' HARMONICAS
& BLUES !
Jimmy Rogers hit the R&B charts in 1957, the year I was born with his song "Walkin By Myself" ~ the first great Blues harmonica song I learned to play and one of my favorites.
I PLAYED OUT WITH "USED BLUES" ~ MY FIRST TIME PLAYING ON STAGE. IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME COMING. THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME UP WITH YOU BOYS! I LOVE YOU ALL FOR THIS, BUTCH, ALAN, RICKY AND GUS. I HAVE NEVER BEEN HAPPIER. IT WAS FUN! WE PLAYED "PACK FAIR & SQUARE" SO ADDITIONALLY, I'D LIKE TO THANK "BIG WALTER THE THUNDERBIRD" OF HOUSTON, TEXAS, BECAUSE HE WROTE THE SONG. I USED A SPECIAL 20, THROUGH AN AUDIX FIREBALL ON A WIRELESS REMOTE UNIT THROUGH A FENDER BASSMAN REISSUE... GUS'S LATEST RIG.
TONIGHT !!! I PLAYED "WALKING BY MYSELF" ON STAGE USING A DELTA FROST, THROUGH MY RUSKIN HARLEY DAVIDSON MIC, (mc-127 ceramic element), THROUGH A Crate acoustic 2X8, a slightly older version of CA 125 D AMP and crate 1X10 with a horn speakers. THE SONG YOU HEAR ON MY PAGE IS BIG WALTER "SHAKEY" HORTON BLOWIN' HARP ALONG WITH JIMMY ROGERS ON GUITAR/VOCALS/WRITER. THIS IS THE SONG I PLAYED ON STAGE TONIGHT WITH JOHN ROGERS ON ACOUSTIC-ELECTRIC GUITAR/VOCALS.THANK YOU JOHN FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY WITH YOU! I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYING THIS SONG SOON WITH "VINI AND THE DEMONS", INSTEAD IT WAS DEDICATED FROM MY HEART IN MEMORY OF "EVIL EVAN DEMON".
THANK YOU JIMMY D. LANE, SON OF JIMMY ROGERS, FOR YOUR BLESSINGS ON ME PLAYING YOU DAD'S SONG. THANK YOU VINI DEMON FOR YOUR GUIDANCE, CRITIQUE, AND ENCOURAGEMENT PLAYING IT OUT MY FIRST TIME. THANK YOU SKIBO DEMON FOR GETTING ME STARTED ON THE SONG AND ALL YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT ALONG THE WAY.

I was born in the District of Columbia ... I love to play Harmonicas! ... Sunshine lights my eyes BrightBlue. CD's I listen to most often are: "The Essential Little Walter", RJ Mischo's "Rough & Tough" and "Meet Me On The Coast", Vini and The Demons , Butterfield's "Original Lost Elektra Sessions", Willie Big Eyes Smith's "Blues From The Heart", Skibo's "Eclectic Acoustic Songs", and Rod Piazza's "Harpburn". Sometimes I listen to every version of "Goenophiny" by Jason Ricci and The New Blood and every version of his "Driftin' Blues", "Mellow Down Easy" & "Scratch My Back".
Music comes from the heart and nothing stops you no matter what when it needs to come out. I want to play Paul deLay's "Harpoon Man" in this life time. (RIP Paul DeLay 030707... let the circle be unbroken... sorry to see him go). I want to play a long list of Little Walter 's toneful tunes, and I want to hear riffs of both Sonny Boys coming out of my harps. Currently I am working on "RJ's Jump" by RJ Mischo and His Red Hot Blues Band. If anyone reading this has played it, I'd be interested in hearing about your experience... Especially if your name is ... RJ Mischo.
Out of all the Harmonica players on Myspace, James Harman just became my 300th friend !!
Thanks James !
I want Blues harp all day and night... an alarm clock that wakes me up to Norton Buffalo's chromatic playing "Hoodoo Roux", and Billy Boy Arnold's "Kissin' At Midnight" every night. I'd like to hear James Cotton's "Bakershop Boogie" when I eat breakfast, and Paul Oscher's "Sugar Mama" when I drink my coffee. I want my cell phone to ring like Mark Hummel's harp at time marker 2:45 to 2:52 on Harmonica Party's "Hand Jive", additionally, I want to hear his version of "The Creeper Returns" anytime I want. I listen to Jerry Portnoy's "Black Tear Drops" when I am sad, and I find Rod Piazza's "The Upsetter" everything but upsetting.
I am one of the lucky people who saw Jason Ricci and the New Blood perform live: 4-20 at the Tin Cup Tavern in Ocala.
I like to watch the video of Sonny Boy Williamson 2 Aleck Rice Miller play "Bye Bye Bird" on a Low C Marine Band. If I had the chance I would show it on a wall sized screen so Sonny Boy would look like he's walking right into the room blowin' that harp! Two other vintage videos I love are Big Mama Thornton singing "Hound Dog", which is outstanding in her Big Mama way, and "Down Home Shake Down" which will blow your mind. She plays harp in that one, including a line up of Big Walter, JB Lenoir, John Lee Hooker (surprise) and Doctor (Isaiah) Ross, ALL on harp.
