Tom Miller - Artist / Musician

About Me

Tom Miller recorded his first 45 record when he was 15 at Criteria Recording Studios in Miami in 1983. He played all the instruments himself, and sang. This signature musical auteurism would come to define his future work.35 CDs and 24 years later, Miller would use a variety of terms to describe himself as anything other than a song writer and recording artist.Rather, Miller considers himself an audio artist, working in what he likes to call a "rinky-dink" philosophy; that is: Doing the perfectly wrong thing at the perfectly wrong time in as little time as possible.ABOUT TOM MILLER:Tom Miller is an artist, musician, UFO expert, writer, independent avant-garde videographer, martial artist, amateur politician, and alcoholic. Formerly of Gainesville, Florida, he moved to Chicago, Illinois to perform with the Blues band, Vini and the Demons. After a successful and somewhat legendary run, Vini and the Demons parted ways and Miller returned to Gainesville hosting a two year stint with his notorious Tom Miller Show at the Shamrock Irish Restaurant and Pub.Miller has performed on stage with many legendary Chicago Blues musicians including Bo Diddley, Sharone Lewis, Billy Branch and the SOBs, Eddie Taylor, Jr., Carlos Johnson, Tommy McCracken, Eddy "The Chief" Clearwater, and many more.As an independent artist & musician, Tom Miller is the producer and author of some 35 CDs, which he makes available through his "imaginary" record label, FREDInk Records, or through Miller's personal web site at http://www.geocities.com/fredink/Extensive archives of Miller's CDs, Paintings, Records, Photographs, Writings and Videos are maintained by the President of FREDInk Records, Ron, in Gainesville, Florida.Tom Miller generates private works exclusively through the kind donations of his many fans and supporters. My Interests

Music:

Band Website: geocities.com/fredink/
Band Members: Tom Miller generally writes, records, performs, produces and directs his own works. He occasionally employs the assistance of talented friends for certain audio art projects. Tom thanks Ron, the President and Executive Director of FREDInk Records for maintaining the largest archive of Miller's writings, recordings, videos, and art. Ron has also been a frequent collaborator on several Miller CDs. Miller also thanks Sal Mollica for providing encouragement and support so that Miller can continue his creative efforts.
Influences: Tom is influenced by a great many people in art and music. A small selection includes Andy Warhol, John Cage, Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, The Minute Men, Ryuichi Sakamoto, The Cocteau Twins, Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Eddie Taylor, Jr., Robert Johnson, Billy Branch, Yoko Ono, The Beatles, and of course, the creators of South Park.
Sounds Like: Miller's range is extreme. From one minute to the next, his audioworks can sound like Cage, Beethoven, Beatles, Crimson, New Age, Hendrix, or sometimes, a variety of intolerable experimental works that hardly anyone can happily listen to.
