About Me

Let's start with the latest band, "Vini and the Demons". We're a heavy Blues Band that started in Florida and worked our way over to Chicago. We have been lucky enough to play the music we grew up with, meet some of the great players and their families, and be accepted in the Chicago scene by many who have done the same thing well before us. We do have a cd out (available at our band website: viniandthedemons.com or through CDBaby). The band is currently taking a break and following up on our next projects.Previously, my acoustic band, "Psychic Clodhopper" played around Florida a bit, although we had quite a few limitations to our success. We lived in various cities and a few of the key players did not have a car, so ... when we did get together to play it was often unrehearsed. To our advantage, we knew what to expect from each other musically and were able to just start up and go without the audiences knowing that it was basically being made up on the spot as we plodded our way through the songs ... thus the name.As a solo artist, I play various instruments in various styles. I have been a regular at various folk festivals playing dulcimers, guitars, banjos, bones, the penny whistle, guitar, harmonica, autoharp, and various other instruments. I also enjoy playing solo concerts, although I prefer to split the billing with a second or third player so I can relax with friends both old and new. I guess I'll always be doing that.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Skibo.
Influences: Well here, I can go on much too long listing names of musicians, depending on the style of music and on the instrument. Maybe when you hear me play something you'll think of a performer or a riff you might have heard years ago. That's great! When I play, things pop into my head and I pick and choose as I go along. I try not to think about who may have played something first, where I heard something before, etc, I just want to keep going and keep playing. Every musician borrows from others somehow.
Sounds Like: ME! Hopefully I don't continuously sound like someone else. I don't want to be a Zerox of sound. Unless I'm with someone else's band or with one of my own, I tend to stick to acoustic instruments ... so that limits it a little bit.
