Russell fell in love with the dance music scene back in 1998 when he first attended clubs such as Gatecrasher and Gods kitchen. After that he purchased his first set of decks and after being inspired by artists such as Paul Oakenfold, Sasha and many more Russell followed the trance route while at the same time always being well and truly into his house music.
After endless hours of practice Russell first started playing out in late 2000 for a night called M.o.tion in Derby and after just a couple of impressive displays he was made resident for the night along with promotions ran by the same people.
That was just the start he needed and was soon followed by gigs all across the UK including major clubs including Godskitchen, PaSSion, Hotdog and more where Russell played alongside DJ A-list names such as Erick Morillo, Armin Van Buuren and Eddie Halliwell amongs many others.
In the late end of 2003 Russell made the decision to stop playing trance and follow a path he’d wanted to take for some time and started playing house despite doing extremely well in the trance scene and being tipped for good things by industry players such as John 00 Fleming who once described him as “Having what it takes” upon hearing a Russell G mix CD.
Now that the decision was made Russell took 6 months away from the scene to experiment with styles he wanted to pursue and after being newly inspired by major house stalwarts such as Steve Lawler, Nic Fanciulli, Sander Kleinenburg he did exactly that.
Since re-entering the circuit he has featured on line-ups with talented names in the house scene such as Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Paul Thomas, Funkagenda and more.
Russell has since gone from strength to strength spinning his style of house at various clubs across the UK including The Honey Club in Brighton while also at making his debut the globally received “The Gallery @ Turnmills” where he played alongside the excellent King Unique.
Russell has now also made the breakthrough onto the international scene where he will be seeing in the start of 2007 with 2 dates in the Ukraine with dates in Slovenia & Poland also being lined up later in the year.
Next on the agenda is production and with many, many hours of studio work penciled in for the start of 2007 his debut tracks won’t be long in coming.
