WHY VEGAN?

Many paths lead to veganism. Some people begin as a result of their love for animals. Actively boycotting products and industries that exploit animals is a powerful statement. Other people become vegan because they are concerned about the quality of life on the planet, which cannot be sustained given the prevailing meat-centered diet. Some people begin to make diet changes for their own health and then discover the ethical and environmental reasons to go further. Regarding ethics, a vegan diet eliminates a tremendous amount of killing. The average U.S. resident eats more than 40 chickens a year, as well as a substantial amount of beef and pork. Thus, every one person switching to a vegan diet keeps dozens of animals out of the slaughterhouse each year. Regarding health, it's important to note that both eggs and whole milk products contain large amounts of cholesterol and saturated fat — the two major culprits that also give meat products such an unhealthy name. And, regarding the environment, cattle grazing is widely considered among environmental advocates to be the largest single cause of wildlife loss and acreage destruction in the United States.

ANIMALS ARE SENTIENT BEINGS.KILLING IS WRONG!

“You may never know what results come of your action, but if you do nothing there will be no result”~GandhiVIVISECTION IS WRONG NO EXCUSES

Every year, tens of millions of animals are dissected, infected, injected, gassed, burned and blinded in hidden laboratories on college campuses and research facilities throughout the U.S. Still more animals are used to test the safety of cosmetics, household cleansers and other consumer products. These innocent primates, dogs, cats, rabbits, rodents and other animals are used against their will as research subjects in experiments and procedures that would be considered sadistically cruel were they not conducted in the name of science.Researchers claim that they must be allowed unfettered access to animals for experiments in order to find cures for human diseases, yet they refuse to address the serious ethical problems of torturing sentient creatures for research purposes. On top of that, over-reliance on animal experimentation has historically hindered scientific advancement and endangered human safety because results from animal research typically cannot be applied to humans. In fact, scientists could save more human lives by using humane non-animal research and testing methods that are more accurate and efficient.

In environmental terms, meat-eating is a costly habit.
The world’s livestock herds consume increasing quantities of land, energy and water. A quarter of the earth’s landmass is used as pasture for farmed animals; more than half the farmland in the USA is devoted to beef production.

While it takes, on average, 25 gallons (113 litres) of water to produce a pound of wheat in modern Western farming systems, it requires an astonishing 2,500 gallons (11,250 litres) of water to produce a pound of meat.

Cows are very social animals. They form large herds and will bond to some herd members while avoiding others. They "moo" and use different body positions and facial expressions to communicate with each other.
Cows are referred to as the foster mothers of the human race because they produce most of the milk that people drink.
So what happens to the calves for which the milk was originally intended? Calves are separated from their mothers within 1-2 days, sometimes even right after birth. Female calves will be raised to become dairy cows and male calves will be raised and slaughtered for meat. Most male calves are killed for beef, but some will end up in the awful veal industry.
After being removed from their mothers, veal calves are loaded onto trucks and often sold at auctions. These small and fragile calves are often treated very roughly. If they are unable to walk, they will be dragged by their legs or ears.Veal calves are confined in crates measuring about two feet wide. To make their meat more "tender", their movements are restrained by chains around their necks. To give a white color to their meat, the calves are fed an all-liquid milk-substitute, purposely deficient in iron and fiber. After about 16 weeks, these poor calves are slaughtered and their meat is sold labeled as "white" veal. "Bob" veal comes from calves who are slaughtered when they are only a few hours or days old.

Cows are exploited by humans for their meat, milk and skin; reducing these wonderful animals to nothing more than products for our use.
