70% of cats that are in shelters are put to sleep because no one came to adopt them. Never buy from a breeder or a pet store. When you do, a shelter dog or cat dies.
Sponsoring six animal welfare groups, rescuing homeless animals, caring for feral cats, networking with other animal rescuers and vegetarians/vegans. I am also very much into fitness, mainly lifting weights. Reading, writing, eating healthy, music, car statistics (I read Edmunds.com daily), learning to speak Dutch, and keeping in touch with friends are a few of my other interests. I am obsessed with good skin care and oral hygiene. I brush my teeth like 12x's a day. I've always been that way. I am a major neat/clean freak.
These beautiful creatures would never eat YOU.
"All Animals Have A Face, Feelings and A Family"
This mother loves her child just as much as you would love your child. When it comes to love, there is no difference.
On March 30, 1996, a stray cat named Scarlett and her five new-born kittens were taking refuge in an abandoned garage in Brooklyn, NY. When a fire broke out in the garage, firemen quickly came on to the scene and rapidly extinguished the blaze. When the fire was under control, and the smoke finally began to clear, one of the firemen sat in amazement as he watched a badly burned Scarlett carry her babies out from the burning debris and take them all to safety - one by one. With multiple injuries including burns all over her body and eyes blistered shut, she brought each little kitten to safety. She touched her nose to each one to make sure they were alive, for her eyes could not see. Scarlett risked her life for her kittens - not once - but five times.
THIS ANIMAL MOTHER LOVED HER BABIES JUST AS MUCH AS YOU WOULD LOVE YOURS.
"All Animals Have A Face, Feelings and A Family"
The average American meat-eating man, woman & child subsidize the abuse and slaughter of over 37 animals per year. That's 2,800 animals in a 75-year lifetime.
This number includes 2,630 chickens and ducks, 123 turkeys, 32 pigs, 13 cows and calves, and 2 sheep. None of these figures include fish, lobster, crab, or other aquatic animals.
SHAMEFUL, UNACCEPTABLE, AND UNFORGIVEABLE.
*I'd like to meet other people who love animals and sincerely want to help them.
*Vegetarians and Vegans, or anyone interested in learning about a cruelty free diet/lifestyle. Anyone that might just have questions.
*Sharp, witty, highly intelligent people who have a direction.
*Other business minded people. (Although I don't give a shit about your business.)
*People who share their profile picture with their pet!
*George Carlin and Lewis Black...Two intelligent comedians who share my same sense of humor and can actually make me laugh.
*Demi Moore, so I can give her a high five.
*My hot list...Which includes Adam Garcia, Emile Hirsch, Jared Leto and Olivier Martinez to name a few.
*WHO I DON'T WANT TO MEET: Anyone who acts questionable or weird. Anyone who brags. Anyone who says stupid things in an attempt to sound clever. Any animal welfare "activists" who lash out at people or conduct themselves inappropriately. (You make the rest of us look bad.) NOTE: I don't like being hit on by rednecks or older men.

The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, The BeeGees, Journey, Pink Floyd, Motley Crue, Skid Row, The Ramones, and Styx are a few of my all-time favorite bands. I still listen to Beastie Boys, KISS, Led Zeppelin, Public Enemy and many others. Gordon Lightfoot, Elton John, and Paul McCartney are more favorites. Nickelback is probably one of the only top 40 type bands I listen to. I LOVE listening to 60's, 70's, and 80's music, disco, old heavy metal (when it sounded like metal) and even classic country is awesome. Classic rock is great. My workout music is Crystal Method, Paul Oakenfold, and Sasha. I think that grunge crap that came out of Seattle in the 90's is the worst music ever. Stuff like Nirvana and Pearl Jam makes me cringe...Play some real music. No one can beat me at music triva...I know the title, artist, year, and lyrics to almost anything. It's a gift. I think you can tell a lot about a person by the music they listen to. My personal profile shuffles about 75 of my all-time favorite songs. Feel free to check them out or steal them if you like.
The World According to Garp, The Shining, The Graduate, Saturday Night Fever, The Shawshank Redemption, Caddyshack, Arthur, Casino, Goodfellas, A Bronx Tale, Lilo and Stitch, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Boys On The Side, Slingblade, Gremlins, Charlotte's Web, Babe, Sixteen Candles, St. Elmo's Fire, Blow, Pulp Fiction, Animal House, X-Men, Dazed and Confused, Napoleon Dynamite, Friday Night Lights, The Girl Next Door (so funny and has the best soundtrack) Duma, Imaginary Heroes, National Lampoon's Vacation '83, & Road Trip.
Dexter(My Favorite Show EVER!), Nip/Tuck, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Big Love, Real Time W/ Bill Maher, and The Sopranos.
Grey's Anatomy, Boston Legal, Desperate Housewives, and Lost. I don't have much time for live tv, thank God for DVR.
**I watch Forensic Files and Psychic Detectives every night before bed.
For scary books, it has to be Stephen King. My favorite book of his is Needful Things. I enjoy motivational books like anything by Tony Robbins or Zig Ziglar. Suze Orman gives some good advice in her books. Because of my warped sense of humor, George Carlin's books are one of the few things that can make me laugh. I also love The Far Side books by Gary Larson. If you aren't witty, I won't read what you have to say. I've read quite a few books about forensics and human behavior. Unfortunately, they were all non-fiction. I guess that's why I prefer animals.

My number one hero of all time is Owen. He was a cat that I rescued that had been severely tortured. He was in pretty bad shape when I found him, but instantly started purring when I picked him up. I expected him to flip out when I started doctoring his wounds, but he didn't. With the office visits and surgeries, he never acted afraid. In fact, he seemed like the most appreciative animal I have ever seen. I knew he had been through the worst hell, so I made sure I spoiled him to death while he was my pet. He had 6 quality months with me where he got to live and play like a normal cat, sleep in our bed, and feel loved. He passed away from an illness he had before I found him, but everyday I think of him and how brave and trusting he was. I was and still am very proud of him.
