About Me

I'sa drummer. I like my drums vintage and play them in a old school style which means I tend to play in old school type bands but I'll turn my hand to anything and I'm always open to new projects. I love fine rums, make a fantastic Planters Punch and I'm a bit of a specialist on Cuban rum cocktails! Oh, and I dabble with oil painting and at the moment I'm painting in the style of Tamara De Lempicka.

My Interests

Vintage drums, Cuban rum and music.

I'd like to meet:

I keep a very select few in my list of friends so if I don't know you, or have met you somewhere I'm not going to add you unless you give me a reason too. I'm only here for the people that I actually know, admire, or I'm impressed by.

Music:

I like music in general especially Jazz, Be-bop, Blue Note Hammond stuff, Ska, Bluebeat, traditional Cuban Son music, Samba and Mambo, Big Band Jazz, Blues, Louisiana Zydeco, Soul, Funk, New Orleans knocks me out, there is so much stuff from that region that folks don't appreciate. Alot of great music originated from there and it's a sin not to acknowledge it.

Movies:

'Leningrad Cowboys go America', Robert Mitchum films, Russ Meyer flicks, Ed Wood films, Exploitation movies. 'Blaze Starr Goes Nudist', Nudist flicks, 'The Big Sleep', Arthouse films, 'The Man With The Golden Arm', 'Breakfast at Tiffanys' (Moon River is 'our' song). 'Tie Me Up, Tie Me Down'. I don't like science fiction and I don't like special effects in films. I'm too nesh to watch scary films especially ones which play on my mind. I love Mel Brooks.

Television:

I love Ren & Stimpy but it's not on anymore. The Phil Silvers Show is brilliant. The Simpsons goes without saying. I hate dramas but like music documentries. Warner Bros cartoons, Pepe le Pew and Foghorn Leghorn especially.

Books:

Jack Kerouac's 'On the Road' is the book I have read the most times. Hunter S. Thompson 'The Rum Diarys' is good. I love biographies. Mac Rebennack's is great and Ray Charles's is written as he speaks. Books on photography and art are always interesting to me and I'm reading more and more about food.

Heroes:

As far as drummers go these have influenced me over the years: Earl Palmer, Sonny Payne, Papa Jo Jones, Ken Butler (Great old school player, now gone, who influenced me alot as a kid.), Gene Palma (Street drummer in the film 'Taxi Driver') and especially my dad.
