1st band - Colbert Hamilton and the Hell Razors. Neo Rockabilly fronted by "Birminghams Black Elvis"
1st Album - C H and the H R as above. We appeared on a few Saturday mornin kids shows like No73 and Saturday Starship. then drank the contents of the green room.
Played in loads of other bands after that. RnR, Blues, Rock, Punk, Pop, allsorts. Then around 1995 I joined Mike Sanchez's Big Town Playboys. This included playing with and supporting people like Don and Duey, The Paladins, Andy Fairweather Lowe and Eric Clapton. After that I experimented a little more with different vibes.
Today I play with different bands, the main one being (since 2000) Paul Ansell's Number Nine - www.no9rockin.com - featuring, yup, you guessed, Paul Ansell on vocals. With this 4 piece band I have had the honour of meeting, performing and recording with some of the greatest artists in the history of rock n roll. Bo Diddley, Scotty Moore, Reggie Young, Bob Moore, Gerry Carrigan, Dave Briggs, Billy Lee Riley, Chris Farlowe amongst them.
I am also a member of the Hemsby House Band these days, thanks to bass man Wayne Hopkins who also calls on me to play at the annual Rockers Reunion. My Hemsby and Rockers Reunion performances include guit-pickin with Robert Gordon, Joe Clay, Marvin Rainwater, Roddy Jackson, Roy Head, Dale Hawkins, and Bobby Mansfield to name a few.
My own band Snakebone began about a year ago and is a jazz, blues rocknroll, jump mixture featuring hammond, sax and drums. Have a listen and take a look at the short video clip!
I also gig now and again with The Stargazer's Pete Davenport in a Django Reinhardt influenced set up........More info to follow...
