High Profile Recordings -Five Eight: Head producer & recording engineer of UK based Hip-Hop Label.
Raised in South London (Thornton Heath) in the mid eighties when hip-hop was becoming a major force across the globe Five Eight was greatly influenced by early rap pioneers & artists such as Run DMC, Eric B & Rakim, Grand Master Flash, Kurtis Blow, Marly Marl, Fearless Four, Whodini and various other great talents, the original creators of hip-hop.
In 1996 after 5 years of DJ'ing local clubs & events Five Eight began to concentrate on creating his own music trying to emulate early rap pioneers using a basic production set-up consisting of sequencers & early computers. The creation of these early grooves and instrumentals would be critical and would be the start of a long journey which would ultimately lead to refining the 'Five Eight' sound and gaining extensive knowledge into the depths of music production and sound engineering.
In 2004 High Profile Recordings was founded by Five Eight to further enhance the productivity and contribution of the flourishing UK hip-hop scene which has at current become the urban sound of the UK. High Profile fellow artist Abrasive (Birmingham based rapper/producer) joined shortly after the label was founded, strengthening the team and pushing the boundaries even further of the H.P camp.
At present with over 10 years of music production knowledge and armed with state of the art recording facilities Five Eight and High Profile will be a great asset to the Hip Hop scene developing across the UK.
