About Me

Suga Diezel is undoubtedly one of the most promising talents in modern day hip-hop and soul. Hailing from Streatham, South West London Suga Diezel, also known as Suga D, Kubla Khan or the Black Fonzerelli, has been involved in the music scene for many years now even though he is still only 22 years old. Originally part of a garage collective known as the Sourthern Comfort Crew, Suga foresaw the decline of the garage scene and started focusing on making quality hip hop and soul. Whilst he is part of a group known as the Abstract Armi, he has also been working prolifically on his solo career and his latest mixtape is entitled, 'Live from The Strip', which is a homage to grinders (hard workers) around the globe, esspecially music promoters/cd distributors. It features collaborations with Trife da God (Theodore Unit) and Project talent winners Nutty Nrg. This is his fith AL/Tape to be released underground, following on from 'The Boss and The Baby Tape'. His previous releases, ‘The Kubla Khan mixtape, The Greasy Tape and the ‘Black Fonzerelli’, have all been platforms for Suga D to showcase his talents and enhance his standing as one of the hip hop scenes premier artists. Each of the three previous mixtapes have been well received with the last release ‘The Black Fonzerelli’ sellin over ten thousand copies on road. Unlike many other similar artists Suga has not restricted his self promotion to just London but has also been building his fan base in cities such as Birmingham, Leeds and Nottingham amongst many other countries. In accordance with his dedicated work ethic Suga D’s profile has been steadily increasing. His collaboration with fellow South London artist Rain entitled ‘Send Me’ was declared song of the week on renowned British DJ Ras Kwame’s show on BBC 1Xtra radio station as well as receiving airplay on Choice FM.. As well as receiving radio exposure Suga D has also featured in the Nutty NRG video ‘Mighty’ which first debuted in MTV Base before being heavily rotated on Channel U. The growing popularity of the video has led Suga D to perform alongside Nutty N RG in many venues across England as well as supporting major U.S. acts such as T-Pain and Ghostface Killah. Already hailed by those who are familiar with his previous work as one of the best rappers in the U.K hip hop scene‘The Boss and the baby mixtape’ highlights not only Suga D’s complex and intricate wordplay but also his ability to create songs of a standard rarely seen in todays U.K hip hop scene. With features from Abstract Armi members Empra Digital and Vivid Don Vito as well as fellow South London rappers Zee Child, Rain and Ironic( Nutty Nrg) as well as Staten Islands 80 proof (The Sinistarz) and with production coming courtesy of a host of talented London producers ‘the Boss and the baby mixtape’ is definitely the hottest U.K mixtape of the year. Influences:Life, the whole wide world which i call church and gather my thoughts in words. Artist range from:Ghostface Killah(wu-tang-Theodore Unit), Fela Kuti, Curtis Mayfield, ODB (wu-tang), Bilal (Beloved Inteligent Lustful and LIving), Cedrik Myton (The Congos and also Emps's uncle) and Bob (u know who). Any hard working musician who grinded for years in the idustry before rising to the surface, guys who play instruments, especially piano- El'Debarge and Dj Quik- other west coast pioneers like E-40. Snoop Dogg got me checking for the classic gangsta funk and thats my biggest inspiration right now!I gain influence from every one i see, friends, foes and family, so you have to take me how i come with the good and the bad (more time good). I am a fan of earlier hiphop from the states and im influenced heavily by the 1980's hiphop scene. I have alot of respect for artists like Slick Rick who was the first to take the his London pezazz around the world (we in the A.r.m.i. are destined to do the same). Though i've listened to rappers and musicians for years i never bite another artists work because my mind processes information in a way that makes it hard for me to harness my own thoughts let alone some one elses- for some weak artists its all to easy. Be blessed from high my vibrant, radiant Queens and lively kings!
