Greg Smith's career has taken him from Montreal, where he started out as a jazz drummer, via New York City, and eventually settling in Holland (1997). For the last decade, Smith has been producing and playing on the Dutch pop/drum&bass/hiphop scene, and has also developed a second career as a modern dance composer, having written over twenty pieces for dance theatre companies in Europe. He also plays drumset/percussion in the avant-garde classical group The Hungry Gods.
Smith has played and recorded with (among many others) jazz saxophonist David Binney, legendary Canadian funk/jazz group Shuffle Demons, Mendoza Dance Parti (jazz-funk), Olabola (jungle funk), and is the founder of former hiphop group Coalition of the Wicked (2004)
Smith is working with artists as diverse as Sandra St. Victor (Family Stand), Ro Krom (Kraak & Smaak), Sitzka (Dr. Rubberfunk), Omar Ka (Senegalese singer), Ebou Gaye Mada (Gambian percussion), Stewlocks (rap mc), and has a recording/performing project with British soul singer Colonel Red - 'ThE eXpErIeNcE' (broken beat/soul/dance)
