About Me

Current projects
Play drums in the pop/rock band TIM , the blues/funk/fusion band Overall, Mats Halvorsen's rock'n'roll band The Curbs, the occasional gig with Bjørn-Peder Johansen, and I also have my own improvisational project called Orki Panama.
Latest news In autumn 2006 recorded several tracks for pop-singer Inanna for her upcoming CD due in 2007, and also recorded 4 tracks for Michael Morrisson from London, all at Tommy Berre's Kitchen Studio.
Recorded also a couple of tracks with my band TIM for our upcoming CD and also several tracks with the blues-funk band Overall. Kicking off in 2007 I also have joined The Curbs which recently recorded at Harrys Gym recording studio. Also did a studio session in June 2007 for the fantastic singer/songwriter Hasse Farmen for his upcoming CD, and will be doing some gigs in the summer with the avantgarde punk/jazz-type band; Eisbein.
I really enjoy doing various studio sessions and enjoy the challenge of quickly coming up with parts and trying to play the right part with the right feel and sound for the song. If you are interested in having me play on some tracks please don't hesitate to take contact with me. Thanks for tuning in.
Gary Husband about Sturla;
"I played your CD and you sound great on there. Very nice sensitive playing my friend - good for the songs, good feel and sound. You sound an excellent drummer Sturla. You play really very, very good for each song in my opinion. The stuff was really good. Very nice indeed."
Drag around some Tama Starclassic Maple drums in sunny yellow finish, or an old super-mahogany finished Tama Superstar kit, polishing Zildjian cymbals, denting Remo heads and breaks Pro-Mark 707 sticks.

Sounds Like: ...I desperately need to start practising again...
Seriously, I think all of the various bands, musicians and all the music I have listened to and loved have gone in and made me play the way I play. It is always for the song, always trying to make it feel good and keeping it interesting enough while keeping the integrity of the music and what it needs to make it come alive.
