About Me

I'm a guitar player based in Oslo, but born and raised in Drøbak. Occasionally I also play drums and bass. At daytime I teach and research philosophy at the University of Oslo, check out my website for more info on that.

On the player you'll find three original songs; "What kind of age?" and "Love remark" recorded with Overall , and "Rock me twice" recorded with Eirik Bergene on bass and Alexander Pettersen on drums. The covers "Blues for Jay" and "I wonder why" also features Eirik and Alex.

I also do recording, mixing and mastering; everything from classic choir music, via folk music to hip hop. Among other projects, I did the recording, mixing and mastering of Gry Oftedal’s CD “Tvilevise”. This is norwegian folk music from the western part of Norway, and it features the rare sea-flute, on which Oftedal is a master. More information on that project can be found here . I also did the mastering of the first (unofficial) album by Kompani 69. Kompani 69 is a hip hop group from northern Norway, although they’re partly based in Oslo now. More info on Kompani 69 can be found here .

Influences:

As regards vocals I'm inspired by Otis Rush, BB King, Elvis, Peter Green, Little Milton, Bobby Bland, Muddy Waters, Junior Wells, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Ben Harper, William Clarke, traditional norwegian folk singers etc.

Occasionally, I play drums, drummers I like include Stanton Moore, Billy Cobham, Hamlet Pedersen, Alexander Pettersen, Billy Martin, Steve Ferrone, Willie Smith, Buddy Rich, Keith Carlock, Sturla Nøstvik, Steve Gadd, Paulo Vinaccia, and many more.

Sounds Like:

In inspired moments my guitarplaying hopefully sounds like a blend of the influences mentioned above.

Anders Strand Trio is a blues trio incorporating some 60's and 70's rock elements. Not your average bluesrock trio, but a classic bluestrio that adds a touch of Wes Montgomery and Kenny Burrell, a touch of New Orleans, and rock riffs akin to Led Zeppelin and early Fleetwood Mac.

Drøbak Blues Band, on the other hand, plays straightforward blues and bluesrock, in line with modern John Mayall, Walter Trout etc.
