..Scottie B Biography
In 1997 Scottie B started out as a DJ/ producer, deejaying at events in the north London area with host Digga D. This partnership resulted in the creation of a faithful fan base and in turn his first break came in 1998 when he was asked to play a weekly primetime set, each Friday at New Orleans. He quickly built up hype at this weekly venue and was soon featured on the award-winning underground station Freek FM - the biggest community radio station between 1992 and 2002 that received four consecutive national awards.
In July 2001, Scottie B was officially made resident for the legendary, international urban brand TwiceasNice by MD Steve Gordon and in turn joined the Nice Talent Artist Agency.
Within six months of joining Nice Talent Scottie B was setting dances ablaze throughout the UK with his unique deejaying and innovative style of mixing, confirming his position as one of the freshest talents on the urban circuit.
He has travelled as far a field as Lagos (Nigeria) where he played at R&B Superstar Ginuwine's concert alongside double MOBO Award-winner Steve Sutherland, Andrez from Damage, DJ Luck and DJ 279. He is currently in the process of doing an Eastern Tour with Alesha Dixon in Japan and the Far East.
Scottie B has played at London’s biggest clubs, including; The Ministry of Sound, Rouge (Sin), The Works, Sound Republic, Turnmills, Eros, Rainforest Café’, & Scala. He has taken his phenomenal talent to venues nationwide including: The Works; Birmingham, Batchwood Hall; St. Albans, Liquid; Luton, The Big Reunion @ Butlins; Skegness, Hidden; Manchester, Creation; Brighton, Gate House; Derby, The Arena; Liverpool, Kudos; Ashford, Park End; Oxford. Liquid Stevenage, Liquid Sutton, Liquid Newbury, Liquid Basingstoke & Brunel Rooms Swindon.
To add to this impressive list Scottie B has played at the hottest venues on the International circuit including; Es Paradis, Eden and El Divino; Ibiza, Club Frequency & H2, Falaraki, Club Spice; Malia, Busby’s; Tenerife, Abyss; Ayia Napa, Tito’s; Majorca , Matts Bar: Portugal, Club Hacienda & Byblos; Croatia and Venus club: Estonia.
As well as travelling across the world, Scottie still finds time to present his radio show on Choice FM, which has led to his ever growing popularity. Scottie B has interviewed the cream of young urban talent including Chris Brown, Ginuwine, Amerie, Ciara, Mario, Omarion and Bow Wow.
Scottie B now works closely with Alesha Dixon, Richard Blackwood, Steve Sutherland, Shortee Blitz, KAT, Matt Jam Lamont and EZ to name a few, touring up and down the country and internationally. Being Alesha’s official DJ, he is also in the process of producing a track for her new album. His latest production ‘Excuse Me’ Ft Harvey, Asher D & Romeo is currently on rotation on Choice FM, Kiss and Radio 1.
To add to his impressive list of achievements, Scottie B was selected to submit one of his two-hour mix tapes for pioneering digital radio station BBC 1xtra for their official launch in September 2002 and in 2006 he had is own show on the station to end the Hip hop weekend.
Scottie B is also an integral component of the SONY BMG Street Team. He’s also part of Vocal Fusion, which boasts UK garage pioneers MC Creed, Norris 'Da Boss' Windross, Jazzy J and Danny Richards. Scottie B has played at after parties for International Urban Artists such as Jay-Z, Ne-yo and Blu Cantrell, Wyclef & J-Lo.
Scottie B has utilized his impressive knowledge of urban music, in his contribution to 2004’s TwiceasNice album release, TwiceasNice Urban Club Classics. The success of this album led Scottie B to join pioneering DJs Shortee Blitz and Matt Jam Lamont on the 2006 TwiceasNice Album: The TwiceasNice Weekender where Scottie B mixed the third CD; “Sunday with Scottie B†in this 3 disc compilation. The 2006 CD has since reached gold status selling well over 100,000 copies making Scottie B an award winning DJ. In 2007 Scottie B took another step forward in his career by mixing another compilation for TwiceasNice – Urban Anthems which was released in June 2007. As a result of the albums success it led to residencies in Ibiza, Croatia and Dubai.
Scottie has worked on numerous campaigns including working with companies such as 3 mobile, O2, Motorola, Orange, Sony, Bacardi, Playstation as well as record labels including Universal, Atlantic and Sony BMG.
In 2006 Scottie B along with Kool J presented “The Channel U Christmas Specialâ€, which has led to Scottie having opportunities with MTV Base and Kiss TV.
Scottie B has also achieved a BA Hons degree in Music Audio Technology and Music Industry Studies, which he gained at Kingston University (August 2003). Scottie B shares his knowledge and passion for music running his own workshops teaching young kids and adults how to deejay. Scottie B cites his influences as Funk Master Flex, Shortee Blitz, EZ, Matt Jam Lamont, and Heartless Crew to name a few.
