Hikobusha

Hikobusha is the name of the new project developed by the musician and performer Davide Gammon Scheriani. From the early '90s Davide "Gammon" Scheriani started several projects and collaborations concerning a very open conception of art and performing styles. In 1997, he founded MotherFuckArt, a bunch of non-conformistic individuals voted to the production and promotion of any form of artistic expression. During the same year he also founded the seminal post-punk group La Good Equipe along with italian musician P. Noyze (guitarist of Punkreas). In 2001 he joined Borboritmo, an ensemble of poet and musicians, and later began his hidden career in instrumental/electronic music. At the end of 2004, Davide Gammon Scheriani begins to work at another musical project, writing a dozen of songs that he called "Canti per Hikobusha" (Songs for Hikobusha).Strix Silverii (el.guitar) and Fabrizio Fogagnolo (d.bass) joined the band as well. In this context, Gammon doesn’t go too far from the alternative-rock attitude, but he mixes it up with a certain jazzy / trip-hop atmosphere, enriched with articulated beats and samples, melt together in a genre that can be defined as “TRIP-ROCK”. The lyrics (most of them are in italian, but there are english songs too) take a wide range of inspirations, from the social context to the emotional and personal analysis, without loosing a systematic recourse to irony and surrealistic perspective toward life and its contradictions. Electronic ballads that mix the “Italian-style” sound with the soul attitude, inspired by artists like Mark Lanegan and Joe Henry. A dark, symphonic walk between the passion for British groups like Portishead and Italian crooners like Tenco and Mina, leaded by a strange and appealing collision of electric guitar, double bass and electronic samples. Hikobusha does a trip-rock that takes just a certain distance from LaGoodEquipe post-punk “fury”, to approach a new sound that joins anger to melancholy, percussion to melody, irony to emotional feelings, analogic to digital sound. At the beginning of 2006, Fogagnolo left his place for Paolo Zangara (guitar, bass), a well experienced musician who plays also with Ophiuco and Lo.Mo.
