My own best enemy...

About Me

I'm a baby of the blues… I embrace my inner twang, although it is the unintentional result of growing up in the south. A Florida native, I am the product of a household that blasted a regular rotation of the family vinyls, which generally included Buddy Guy, the Vaughn Brothers, Bonnie Raitt, Albert Collins, Little Feat, and a slew of old bluegrass, country, and rock & roll on a nightly basis. My dad gave me an early dose of the blues when he took me to a Jacksonville nightclub to see Little Charlie and the Nightcats. I was 5 and the addiction could not be stopped. Blue blood's been running through my veins ever since.
With 10 years of classical piano and music theory under my belt, I found my voice through the guitar. At the age of 11, armed with my dad's hand-me-down Ovation (admittedly a very nice hand-me-down...), I taught myself the chords to my favorite songs, comparing guitar notes to those on the piano, picking and plodding until I got it just right. I have since had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many accomplished musicians in the Northeast Florida area and am honored to have had guidance and support, in the form of structured music lessons, back-porch jam sessions, and kind words of encouragement, from some truly incredible musical peers.
After writing songs and practicing scales in the solace of my bedroom for years, I eventually recorded two full-length albums (again, in my bedroom...). I have found myself engaged in a sordid love affair with my Gibson Dove and an 8-track digital recorder. Gathering inspiration from life in the south, incredible people, bad politicians, obligatory heartbreak, and hole-in-the-wall bars, my music offers the best description of who I am and what I'm about...
Cheers...
