...Battered into the vast Blackness of Death!
Wrath was forged in the wintermonths of 1998 by Thorben Rathje after the unintended split with Reign of Terror (US) and the move from El Paso,Texas, to Lenggries,Germany. The unbroken will to release vicious and goatraping blasphemous Death Metal unto the world has manifested itself into the first creations and thus the beginning songstructures for 'Crimson Bathed Legions' , 'Curse of Huwawa' and 'Necromunda' were born. Meanwhile the search was on for other musicians to join in the plague, but none were found near that were apt or promised the same ideology and philosophy behind the music that was to become Wrath.Rathje went on to write material not paying much heed to the dilemma of future bandmates. The songs needed to get finished and when time would come for a release perhaps other maniacs would be found. However, this was not the case and since the search was proving a disappointing one, Rathje decided to take all responsibilities unto himself, recording all instruments and vocals and doing the drums via his first steps in sequencing.
'Apocalypse Thunders High' was the first demo to be released by Wrath in 2000 and like all future releases it was to be a celebration in speed, the old school fire and uncompromising blasphemy. This demo however was not published and released only towards a small circle of selected individuals since it was a mere 4-track recording and the quality very rough.
Unrelentless writing followed and soon first contacts to other musicians were made. Benedikt Boes was the first one to join the crusade as second guitarist, but while proving to be skilled in the art of the axe, he lacked the conviction of toil and mayhem.
In 2002 'Sign of the Void' was released as the second demo again by Rathje alone. This time it was recorded and mixed at SubSinus Studios, Bad Toelz. It received more than a few positive responses and thus fueled the will to move on in search of a live line-up.
A little while after this Manfred Bock was recruited as second guitarist. First rehearsals followed along with the first collaborative songwriting for 'Call forth the Bloodstorm'. Unfortunately the relocation of Rathje to Munich produced scheduling conflicts that left him again working alone.
In the year to follow most time was spend on writing material. This time around a slower process due to collision with daytime work. Since Rathje's departure from Bad Toelz and thus also Subsinus Studio, where he worked as an audio engineer, there had been only dim connections to studios since and so the recording process painfully postponed.
Still, in March 2005 new equipment has been acquired and preparations to record have been made. All recording and mixing done by Rathje himself save for the vocals, which where recorded by engineer Peter Waltenberger. Wrath has just finished its third onslaught 'Among the Suffering' to be released early December 2005, with tracks such as 'Verse of Abhorrence', 'Call forth the Bloodstorm' and 'Let the Massacre begin...'.
Currently the demo is being promoted and has been received quite well by underground press. At the same time, five new tracks are written and arranged and are being recorded for preproduction. Expect the onslaught to continue.
