About Me

ANGELCORPSE was formed in the Fall of 1995 by Gene Palubicki and Pete Helmkamp. In March '96, the Goats to Azazael demo was recorded after the addition of drummer John Longstreth in January. Hammer of Gods, the debut album for Osmose Productions(France), was recorded in July still as a three piece, and Bill Taylor joined in October on rhythm guitar.
ANGELCORPSE supported Impaled Nazarene in Europe in December, and in February '97 the Nuclear Hell EP, recorded live in Strasbourg, France, was released. In May, the Wolflust EP was recorded with the full lineup , and several shows, includingthe Milwaukee Metalfest, were played in the US during the rest of the year.
The second ANGELCORPSE album, Exterminate, was recorded in November '97 at Morrisound Studios. Exterminate, also released on Osmose, successfully captured the furious nature of the band's sound, and songs such as "Christhammer", "Sons of Vengeance", and "Wartorn" truly represented the direction that ANGELCORPSE would continue down. After the release of Exterminate in February '98, drummer Tony Laureano replaced Longstreth in March. ANGELCORPSE played the April 'No Mercy II Festivals' in Europe, which consisted of 11 shows with Immortal, Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Marduk and God Dethroned. These dates averaged 1000 people per night, and some live footage and interviews were taken of all the bands for possible video use. Following these gigs, ANGELCORPSE continued as support for Immortal for another 25 European shows. In July-September of that same year, as openers for Cannibal Corpse on their U.S. tour, ANGELCORPSE played a grueling 55 shows in 9 weeks, and proved without a doubt to their American and Canadian fans that they were a powerful and professional live act. Rave reviews in magazines such as Terrorizer, Metal Maniacs, Pit, and numerous others, followed in the wake of the European and North American tours.
In November, ANGELCORPSE relocated to Tampa, Florida, and work began in earnest on their third album: The Inexorable. A follow up tour of the US with Incantation and Krisiun in January/February 1999 spread the bestial message further, and a split EP with Martire and several covers for Dwell Records were recorded in April 1999. In May, ANGELCORPSE entered Morrisound and Audiolab Studios to record The Inexorable, which features such devastating tracks as: "Stormgods Unbound", "The Fall of the Idols of Flesh", and "Smoldering in Exile".
"The Inexorable" was released in mid 99' and this time Angelcorpse had proper distribution in the US with Olympic Recordings. A major European tour in support of Marduk, as well as some large festival shows finished up the year, and a US tour was embarked upon in spring 00' alongside Satyricon, Immortal and Krisiun. This was to be the band's last. After a van accident one week into the tour, Helmkamp badly injured his left foot and ankle, but vowed to continue. Angelcorpse only had to cancel one show. However, two weeks later other pressing personal reasons forced Helmkamp off the road for good. Alex Camargo stepped in on vocal duties for the remaining week of shows, and upon everyone returning back home, Helmkamp quit the band. Although having been given the choice to continue without him, Angelcorpse opted to split. Seven years later. Helmkamp and Palubicki have been hard at work on material for nearly two years now, and after enlisting the services of original drummer Longstreth, recorded the fourth full length album "Of Lucifer and Lightning".
Of Lucifer and Lightning’ finds the Florida-based death metal regime reunite for their first full-length release since 1999’s ‘The Inexorable.’ The new album - a bombastic and ferocious outing from beginning to end - has Angelcorpse once again leading the charge of brutality in 2007.
About the release of the new album and upcoming live tour dates, bassist/singer Pete Helmkamp says, “All hail the banners of Antichrist Vanguard! Angelcorpse is pleased to be unleashed once again with our new album ‘Of Lucifer and Lightning.’ We can promise unrelenting savagery, stark discipline and total warfare. Witness the US East Coast assaults with Watain and Nachtmystium - join us in the carnage!”
What the press are saying… "Ferocious Luciferian death metal brutality the way it must be, Angelcorpse blaze forth in total skilled militaristic fury with their comeback release!" - BW&BK
“One of the best death metal acts -- ever. Angelcorpse pushes further and beyond the limits of musical fury.” – METALLIAN
“…infectious, fury-filled brutality…” – CHRONICLES OF CHAOS
“Never disappointing, always menacing. The return of Angelcorpse gallops through like a herd of murder-hungry beasts bent on the ultimate domination of misanthropic metal.” - UNRESTRAINED!
