Desolated was formed in late 2006 by drummer Linus Haering and the two guitarrists Marian Bauer and Stefan Steinmann in Berlin, Germany. The three were making music together for years and decided to play the most brutal music there is to play…
After several months of intense searching they found the bassist Moritz Kölling and the singer Thomas Springsguth. Influenced and inspired by big bands like Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel or Death they started to write the first couple of songs. The aim was to play this kind of brutal music in a musical, diverse and playful way.
The lyrics in Desolated are not like stereotypical Death Metal lyrics (blood, destruction, death) but are also partly about social critical and anti-war topics. The musical approach is comparable to the original US- Death Metal. Fast blastbeats are combined with slow, groovie parts. Over time the songs became more and more progressive but the main focus is still on a very classic song structure witch makes it easier to follow them since the recognition value of a song is one of the most important things in music.
With just a couple of songs in stock Desolated hit the stage in early 2007. They had to play the whole sets over and over again cause the feedback was so positive and they were running out of songs. When the sets became longer they shared the stage with the godfathers of Death Metal “Master†and the German band “Jack Slaterâ€.
After several low budged rehearsal tapes they finally finished the first professional record with the title “War Of Desolationâ€. The Ep contains the first four written songs of the band. Desolated are now looking forward to release this Ep and to gain first reactions towards it…
