Deviant Syndrome was founded in winter 2005-2006 by former black-death band Visdommen guitarist George, when he’s got enough of personal musical material and decided to create his of side-project in melodic-death. Band's name means deviant social activities, a complex of symptoms depicting various deviations. Thus conception of lyrics is urged to unfold band’s name and its fundamental doctrine.
First line-up is soon to form. It is: George (guitars/vocals), Nick on (bass/lyrics) and Andrew (guitars). Absence of drummer did not make them fall back, so they started valuable and laborious work on rehearsing new material and preparing demo recording. After few months of cooperation Nick and Andrew departed through private conditions. After replacing vacant spaces and finding a drummer, Deviant Syndrome started recording their first demo. Lyrics for majority of songs were written by former Visdommen guitarist/vocalist Max.
In autumn 2006 brought just another, unfortunately, not last line-up changes. As a result the rhythm section again was missing. During 2006-2007 Deviant Syndrome has been rehearsing a lot of musicians. A continuous sequence of musicians, among which were the drummer of Scartown and guitarist of Artemesia, passed through, but no one, owing to their own reasons, did cling to the band.
In the end of 2007 two remarkable events for Deviant Syndrome took place. After lingering work the demo consisting of 5 songs was completed, it was entitled “Pictures of Declared Extinctionâ€. And finally, permanent line-up was formed, it has George (guitars/vocals), Eugene (guitars), Alexander (bass), Ivan (drums).
After couple months of rehearsing, feeling the need of having live sound similar to recordings, it was found necessary to invite fifth band member (formerly, the band was a four-piece, without keyboardist). Olga, who participated in recording, came in to fill this place. Nick has rejoined with the band as lyrics writer.
First show in Moscow was set in spring 2008 concluding long-lasting preparation stage. Audience acclamation showed that the band, basically oriented on melodic-death, but meantime bravely and masterly exceeding the borders of style standards, joining different musical branches, had easily and rightfully took their place in quickly expanding and developing world of heavy metal. The band is scheduling future concerts and preparing new songs for their debut LP album.
