Xenolith started as a two men project. Sometime during 2003, guitarists Yoni Doron and Asaf Levy started working together, molding some musical ideas and trying to create their own sound.
In 2004, drummer Gal be'eri and bass player Eyal Caspi joined, and Xenolith was officially formed, with Yoni performing as one of two guitarists and the band's vocalist. A couple of months and gigs later, David benjamini took charge of the bass section.
An extremely unique player, David's melodic thinking and tight playing took the band's music to another level.
In November 2006, the band recorded it's first single, "Desolated spirits". The release led to a number of live gigs, that introduced the music the band plays for the first time. In the beginning of 2007, Gal decided to leave Xenolith, and for 6 months the band looked for another drummer.
Finally, Assaf Rosenberg stepped up, a very young and talented drummer who quickly learned the material and joined the group.
The single "Desolated spirits" appeared, along side of many great Israeli bands, on the Compilation "Israel unleashed : the best rock and metal from the holy land", released in the USA by JMG records.
The new single "Austere perceptions" was recorded during October of 2007,
Mixed and mastered by Yuval Kramer ,guitarist of the Israeli band "Amasefer", in his home studio.
For those who wonder about the meaning of the band`s name:
"A Xenolith (Greek: 'foreign rock') is a rock fragment which becomes enveloped in a larger rock during the latter's development and hardening"
Kinda cool isn't it?
