Australian progressive rock

About Me

Cosmic Nomads is a 5-piece band based in Melbourne Australia. The band was originally formed in Sydney in 2003 by Dutch born Hammond organist, singer, award winning song composer Ray Vanderby, who in 1991 won the WROC/BMG Australian National Song writing competition out of 2,500 entries. Cosmic Nomads released their first single "Make Love Not War" in 2003 and debut album "Make Love Not War" in 2004. The line up was Ray Vanderby Hammond organ/lead vocals, Michael Smith, bass, Rod Brogan guitar, Wayne Davison, drums. 2nd album "Vultress" was released in 2007 and the line up was Ray Vanderby Hammond organ/lead vocals, Gina Woods piano/synthesiser, Con Patogiannis guitar/vocals, Geoff Brown bass, Miam Lentini drums, Anni Lang vocals/percussion. The 3rd album "Millennium" was released in February 2008 and the line up was Ray Vanderby Hammond organ, Con Patogiannins guitar/vocals, Kon Zissis guitar/vocals, Mark Kearney bass, Gordon Graham, drums. On this album the band has added their own compositions to include Edvard Grieg’s "Trolltog-March Of The Trolls" (1891), J.S.Bach’s "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" (1707) and Claude Debussy’s "The Engulfed Cathedral" (1904). "Millennium" is full of classical, celtic, centurial, nordic fusions combined with modern heavy prog. rock structures and a choir. "Millennium Toccata" is the leading song touted for radio airplay.“A world class act!” – Garry Dalton Radio 3 Way FM Warrnambool.“They deliver one hell of a powerful live show!” – Inpress Magazine."Cosmic Nomads would probably be the top (prog/rock) band in Australia today! Amazing stuff!"
