There's a world of difference between pop stars who sing other people's songs, and female singer/songwriters who truly touch your soul. With a voice that's powerful, passionate, endlessly expressive, and full of contagious energy, Nadia Roman is just that type of artist-one who will You undoubtedly surprise and captivate.
Nadia's deeply soulful rock groove, which can best be described as blending elements of Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt.
Co-founder ‘Bad to the bone’ guitarist/songwriter Derrick Macbrian met Nadia after a concert in Ghent Belgium. During let we say …….some sort « recreational period » you know what I mean..One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer. I heard Nadia playing Jethro Tull’s ‘Locomotive Breath’ at the piano. So I went over to meet her, and she started singing for me. I was pretty much blown away, so I suckered her to forming a band with me.†Since that day, the musical relationship has remained dependably loyal. Even if we do not have always the exact vision regarding what we love about music, but when it comes to songwriting, we finish each other’s thoughts.
This chemistry proved to be not only fruitful, but also very powerful. “We’d play something on the guitar, then I’d play something on the piano, and the parts would vibe off each other. I’d just think about my life, and my experiences, everyday stuff and start writing. Everyone can feel these songs, because everyone’s had the same problems.
In February 2007, the band camped out in the south of France to record their new single ANGES at Jack Blues productions Control studio. For the recording of Nadia's voice we chooses André Fisichella’s ARION studio. For the final mixing and mastering the M.H.P Productions Studios in New York.
Hitting the street harder than a Big Truck Driver with the pedal on full mash
With that do-or-die performance attitude, coupled with music that's both introspective and distinctive, there's no doubt that THE REFUGEES has the right chemistry for success.
