I got into music at the early age of 10. My dad was involved in the music industry, so it sort of rubbed off on me. During his time in the music biz he was a guitar player and a producer, he performed with artists such as Stevie Wonder, George Michael, Loose edges etc. My first taste of hiphop was on ' Yo MTV raps' on a saturday morning and I made sure I never missed it. I also listened to Tim Westwood (before he became famous) on Friday and Saturday nights. When my dad saw my deep interest in music he decided to teach my how to use the akai sampler and cubase. He had a little studio set up in the house, but once he got me started I could'nt stop (hahaha) I was addicted. Of course the first few songs I made were wack but the more songs I produced the better I got. At the age of 18, I started my first group. The group included me(Big Jay)as the producer, Joe Gilligan as the singer and Elizabeth as the MC. We called ourselfs Jenuin, at that time uk garage was big so we were influenced by that. We did a couple of shows, made some songs and then the group ended. Looking back now I'm not sure why. For a while after that project, I didnt have any artists to work with so I started remixing. After finishing the remixes I would take them to local radio stations and try and get air time. The response was great, the radio presenters loved the songs, the public would phone in asking where could they get hold off the tracks. Some stations could'nt play them because they were remixes of artists such as Jay Z, Fat Joe and Young Buck, so I needed there premission. Soon after that I started working with my brother ( The J.A.G.) but that project was short lived because he moved to Miami. Luckily after that short project I bumped into Strategy, one half of Broken English. We talked alittle then exchanged numbers and not too long after that I was remixing for them.If you are a rapper or singer or somebody who's interested in J.L.
