I just recently sold 2 YA vampire novels to HarperCollins.--publishing date sometime late 2008 or early 2009. I'm a southern girl who dreams of being the next big thing. And when I say big, I'm not referring to my ass. I wanna be famous...help make me famous!
Here's my bio that goes to the publishers:
Born and bred in Arkansas, Melissa McKenzie Francis is a small town southern girl with big city dreams. (Okay, she dreams of big city shoes, but there’s nowhere to wear them ’round these parts. Plus she really is a barefoot girl at heart.) The University of Arkansas at Little Rock allowed her to graduate with an English degree, but many of her friends wonder how when she uses words like y’all, dunno, gonna, and fixin’ to. Her favorite phrase is “Woo Pig Sooie!†and she will be glad to explain what that means over a (preferably dark) beer.
For seven years, she lived just two miles away from William Faulkner’s home in Oxford, MS. When the pressure to live up to his reputation grew too great, she moved back home to Arkansas where others totally understand her. She can be found online at http://melissafrancis.blogspot.com. She recently sold her first novel to HarperCollins.
Bite Me! is scheduled to hit the shelves January 2009 and she totally expects everyone who has met her to buy at least two copies.
Here's the honest truth:
Born and bred in Arkansas, Melissa McKenzie Francis is a small town southern girl with big city dreams. (Okay, she dreams of big city shoes, but there's nowhere to wear them 'round these parts). She's happliy married to her dream guy but likes to look on occasion. She loves to write sexy stories that end happily. She desperately wants to be a cross between Nora Roberts, Helen Fielding, and David Sedaris. Scary fucking thought, huh? She wishes she had Beyonce's body and Gwen Stefani's face, but she'll take what she's been given. She's an all around okay gal. If you don't know that, then you don't know her at all.
