Sounds Like: Howdy folks, thanks for dropping by! God knows what I really sound like, but it is important to know how I got here...and I'd like to thank all bandmates past and future for helping to show me the way, wherever it is I'm going. Here is a short list of bands I've been lucky enough to play in. I'll leave out say, the disco bands even though that was the only time in my life I ever made a living playing music. THE HAPPY EGGS - featured power popster producer and player Jamie Hoover. Along with Murphy Moore we put out a very rare and sought after 7" 45 EP of crazed new wave/punk. This was sometime in the early 80's in Charlotte N.C. FADE TO BLACK - teamed up with these gothic rockers after I moved to San Francisco in about 1984. We put out a 12" 45 EP (uh...that would be bigger than a 7" one..) on CD Presents. Played some fine shows with The Damned, Specimen and the like. GAME THEORY - joined up with Scott Miller in 1985 and recorded 3 albums, all produced by Mitch Easter, including the critically acclaimed Lolita Nation. GAME THEORY did 2 commercial videos - Erica's Word and The Real Sheila. Went on many national tours and none of us ever killed each other. Matter of fact, I met my future wife at a GT/True Believers show in Nashville Tenn. THE LOUD FAMILY - hooked up with Scott again in 1998 and recorded 2 albums - Days For Days and Attractive Nuisance. We did 2 tours and and called it a day in 2000. So here I am. I hope you like my music! Gil

A BUS, FIRE AND A HAIRCUT

Well, it's pretty hard to top EBENEZER gig stories after the very...colorful Cherry Point Marine Base episode, but there certainly were other shows. We played many times at The Barn in Rock Hill, thou...

THE FEW...THE PROUD...THE REALLY STONED!

Sometimes I'm a lucky guy. A couple of months ago, I happened upon a partial list I made of EBENEZER'S gigs. How timely! I'm sure it is not complete, but man, there are some memories on this yellowed ...

EBENEZER SCHOOLED!

Now that I was in this new and mighty rock band named EBENEZER (which the guys had mentioned was going to be called EBENEZER SCREWZZZ - glad that didn't stick, though the hip rock-ebonics spelling cer...

ROCK HILL ROCKING!

True to form, I don't really remember too many of the details of me joining my first post - ROCK BOTTOM band, other than the connection was made through my girlfriend's sister, who was dating a guy fr...

GETTING WORKED!

After Jamie left, ROCK BOTTOM actually hung around for a little while. We tried out a couple of guitarists, but it wasn't really happening. I was now out of high school, or soon to be, and I needed to...

BOTTOMED OUT!

I think Rock Bottom broke up in 1974. I'm not positive about that, but it sounds right. Whenever it was, I do remember that I had just purchased Tales From Topographic Oceans by Yes. (It has a 1973 da...

LET'S GO TO A SHOW! A REAL ROCK SHOW!

During my high school years (early-mid 70's), I was fortunate enough to see many very cool rock concerts. Charlotte got passed up by many (which continued to piss me off right up until I finally fled ...

IT'S SHOWTIME!

Good Lord it was so long ago....ROCK BOTTOM did play shows, but we were mostly under 18 years old at that time, so not many club gigs came our way. It seems like we played gazillions of battle of the ...

THERE'S A RIOT GOING ON!

ROCK BOTTOM basically lasted my high school years, which were 1972 - 1974. A pretty adventurous and heady time for a high schooler. Charlotte was always a couple years behind cultural, social and poli...

BOTTOMS UP!

In 1971 (gulp..I think..) I entered high school. Forced bussing took me out of my neighborhood for 9th grade, but when it came time to go to high school, I went back to my "neighborhood school" which ...
