Sounds Like: In his latest project “Buscando”, Juancho Herrera is taking another leap as a songwriter, producer and performer. Combining the knowledge of traditions from various countries such as Venezuela, Cuba, Brazil and the U.S. with modern pop and jazz influences, Juancho arrives to a very energetic and unique blend of true World Music. His catalogue of songs is a sample of what the new songwriter will be looking like, in any big city of the Americas in years to come. His vocal style has been compare with the likes of Caetano Veloso, Jorge Drexler and David Byrne. His unique approach to guitar playing has been praised by guitarists such as Romero Lubambo, Nile Rodgers, and Aquiles Báez.Using electronic textures in combination with traditional instruments such as Cuban tres and Venezuelan cuatro, and electric guitars, the project achieves a vibrant dialog between tradition and forward motion. The key to “Buscando” is the very well crafted superimposition of layers of musical ideas that keep on growing into the listener long after various listening sessions. The subtlety in which all the musical elements combine themselves in order to complete the songs are paired with lyrics that convey a very strong sense of life as a consecutive collection of moments. Some are deep and emotional, some sarcastic and satirical, some superficial and irrational.
