I was born and raised in New York, and currently live in Brooklyn. Over the past few years Ive been lucky enough to partner with some amazing musicians from around the world. Some highlights include performing for Maya Angelou, singing at Madison Square Garden, laying down studio vocals with Harry Belafonte and singing backup with the B-52's and Angelique Kidjo. I try to unite my music with causes close to my heart. My song Paper Airplanes can be found on the Rhino Records cd titled For The Lady which was produced to raise awareness for Aung San Suu Kyi -- the worlds only imprisoned Nobel Peace Laureate. Other artists on the compilation include Coldplay, Peter Gabriel, U2, Bonnie Raitt, Bright Eyes, Paul McCartney and more. These days Ive been playing with my own band whose style I'd describe as a mix of folk and world rhythms. You can catch me playing at local NYC venues and find my music for sale on CD Baby and iTunes.
I'm also in the process of completing my first full length cd. Produced by musical wizard Todd Sickafoose , it's filled with love and amazing musicians such as Mark Stewart (Paul Simon, Bang on a Can), Jenny Scheinman (Lucinda Williams, Bill Frisell), Emily Saliers of the Indigo Girls and the fantabulous bandmates listed to the left.
P.S. While not singing songs and hanging around the NYC streets, you can find me out in the world with WITNESS , Peter Gabriel's human rights organization. We use the power of video to expose human rights abuses (i.e. try to help people care more about each other).
