JANE DEERE

About Me

What happens when an adventurous rocky mountain fiddler is combined with a rocking Texas picker? Nothing less than the innovative and never heard before sound of Jane Deere. With diverse musical influences including Keith Urban, Sheryl Crow, The Beetles, Shania Twain, The Judds, and the Dixie Chicks, the new dynamic duo, Susan Brown and Danelle Leverett, bring a fresh, high energy, rock sound to the country music market. Susan, originally from Alpine Utah, began playing fiddle at age four and won the Utah State fiddle contest in her age group when she was only 10 years old. She also won several talent awards including the Miss Timpanogas Talent Scholarship, where she played and recorded fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and bass. Growing up playing at various state fairs, county fairs and performing with her family band, Susan is no stranger to the stage. She played at a mountain ski resort during the 2002 Winter Olympics, where many of the events were being held in Park City, Utah. After making the jump and moving to Nashville, she spent part of 2005 and most of 2006 on the road as a backup singer and instrumentalist with Warner Brother’s recording artists Shannon Brown and MCA recording artist Trisha Yearwood while working on Jane Deere in her time off. While Susan was raised in the music scene, it wasn’t until high school that the Amarillo native Danelle Leverett, started playing guitar and writing songs. Not long after high school, Danelle won her first song writing competition in the Amarillo area battle of the bands “Got Milk Competition.” While attending college in Abilene, Texas, she made a living playing gigs as a singer/songwriter and recorded her first full length rock album, “Glimpse of Life.” Before graduating with her bachelor’s degree in psychology, she was signed to the independent record label, Purify Records, to record a four song EP in Los Angeles, California. After graduating, Danelle moved to Nashville to pursue her dreams of becoming a singer/songwriter. Six months later, Danelle found Susan playing in a downtown Nashville venue and the two decided to try co-writing together. They wrote their first song in complete harmony with such an immediate musical connection that even the third writer, Kris Bergsnes told the girls they were a duo from day one. Within two weeks they had written six songs while becoming best friends. They have since written with some of Nashville’s greatest songwriters including Jeffery Steele (“What Hurts the Most” and “My Wish”- Rascal Flatts ), James Slater (“In My Daughter’s Eyes” - Martina McBride), Brian Maher (“You’re Like Coming Home”- Lonestar), Anthony Smith (“Cowboy’s Like Us”-George Straight), Danny Myirck (“Hey Country”- Montgomery Gentry), and several others. After only three months of writing and developing, Susan and Danelle landed in the hands of Marty Williams, original producer of Rascal Flatts, Josh Gracin, and Marcel. During the last year, Marty has overseen “Jane Deere’s” development and is currently shopping them to record labels. They have also recently signed a song writing deal with Miridia Publishing. Jane Deere is currently staying busy writing songs, rehearsing, recording, and playing acoustic gigs all over the USA for all types of venues. They have recently played shows in California, Colorado, Utah, and Texas on mini tours in 2006. So, keep your eyes and ears open for the driven duo that is predicted to debut soon.
