About Me

My name is Michael J. I am originally from Rochester, NY but I live in Gainesville, FL at the moment.

I've released 10 CDs (3 with my former band Exploding Boy and 7 solo records). I have played shows with The Goo Goo Dolls, Sister Hazel, Howie Day, Colin Quinn, Cheap Trick, Joan Osborne, Angie Aparo, and Art Alexakis of Everclear.

I've received some awards for my songs and was named one of the "Best Artists of 1999" by Billboard magazine. I've also done some songwriting with Stan Lynch, the former drummer for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, producer for Don Henley, The Eagles etc.

I played at Gator Growl 2002 (the largest student-run pep rally in the world) with my band at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, FL in front of 56,403 people.

My song "Spin" appeared in the internationally released feature film "3 Needles" starring Lucy Liu, Stockard Channing, Sandra Oh, Shawn Ashmore, Olympia Dukakis and Chloe Sevigny.Another of my songs, "Nothing To Say" was recently featured in "Episode 109 (Papa Was A Rolling Stone)" of ABC Family's hit television series "Falcon Beach" which is currently airing in 18 different countries all over the world including France, Scandinavia, and the UK.I'm also a producer and recording engineer and have been spending some time lately working with other up-and-coming artists helping them to realize their creative visions.I'm currently working on my 8th solo release which will feature guest appearances by Eric Stock and Jens Funke of "Stroke 9", and my longtime friend Steve Schiltz of "Longwave". Look for this release sometime in 2008.I am the luckiest person alive because I get to do what I love for a living.
