The Band Members – TaVeren is a brotherhood: Carl, Justin and Jerome Lubbe (pronounced Libbah). Carl is the eldest of twins, Justin and Jerome. All self-taught musicians, Carl plays guitar, Justin keyboards and guitar, and Jerome bass.
The Music – Without exception TaVeren’s musical style is uniquely their own, yet the cognizant listener will hear the infusion of sounds from Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts, Nickel Creek and Alison Krauss. All three lads have marked vocal talent to share the lead role, however the majority of the tracks feature Justin on lead with Carl and Jerome singing harmonies. The music of TaVeren reflects the heart, soul and emotion of mainstream America and expresses the laughter and the tears—the basics of everyday life—of every man and every woman.
Their Story – The Lubbe brothers were born in South Africa. As the political situation became more unstable and dangerous, the family moved to Zaire with the intention of relocating to America. When their father eventually secured work in Knoxville, TN, he returned to Zaire to collect his family. The new government forbade Mr. Lubbe’s return to the States. With the assistance and aid of their local church, their father was spirited out of the country hiding beneath a blanket in the back of a taxi. The following day, paramilitary police visited the Lubbe family home in search of Mr. Lubbe only to discover the father of three was gone. In the tense moments that followed, the police had to decide whether to shoot and kill the remaining family members. In a moment of divine intervention, the officials exited the residence leaving the family unharmed. Within the following two months, the church and its community members collected the funds necessary to assist the family (Carl, age 9 and the twins, then 7) to escape to the United States to join their father.
Young men with grand dreams for the future, the siblings headed in independent directions to pursue their careers. Justin and Jerome studied film in Arizona (The University of Advancing Computer Technology) while Carl studied Political Science at Oglethorpe University and picked up the pen to write music. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Carl, Justin and Jerome began to perform live shows out West. It was via an e-mail communication that the family realized the brothers were all pursuing the same adventure, when Justin sent Carl an mp3 of one of his performances, the brothers knew destiny called. …The brothers-three were meant to create music together.
The Vision – TaVeren’s music (Carl, Justin and Jerome) is a definition and genuine expression of their faith. Their objective and hope is to be successful in sharing their story with their fans, their faith and celebration in their love for one another, family, friends and their community, and the spirit of their faith through their music to help those who are, like they once were, without hope or opportunity.
