About Me
In 1993 the Boot To Head era began with the joining of two people with a vision to start a record label that catered to our tastes, personalities, and affections… we sought out positive, thought provoking punk related soundscapes…. We, Caleb Olsen and Greg Dimick didn’t have the first clue what we were getting into, only that we knew what we wanted, and we made it happen. In those first few years we put out some great bands, Blaster The Rocket Boy (AKA: Blaster The Rocket Man), Chasm, Clay, Crux, The Invaderz, Spesial Guest, Yum Yum Children and tons of others through our compilations (including a few like No Innocent Victim, Overcome, The Huntingtons, The Blamed, Squad Five-O, Thee Pirates, and tons more…)… the years moved on and so did a few bands here and there, some of us lost touch, but never our love for each other…. By the mid/ late nineties, we were well on our way as a label, having hooked up with Shorthanded, Ceasefire, Through And Through, and then Later The Witness Protection Program, Side Walk Slam, Never The Less, we had a catalog of almost 30 releases, all great in their own right. We made a name for ourselves, by sticking to our guns, and putting out releases that people were never able to be pigeonholed into some neat cookie-cutter categories… We were concerned with putting out what we liked, not what we thought would sell… by 2000 I needed a break, Greg had long since taken off to peruse a higher calling (wife and kids) and I just had some other stuff to do… but like all truly meaningful parts of our life, if they’re meant to be, they never truly die, and neither did Boot To Head. By 2003 I was feeling the blood boil, the passion revive, and the vision to resurrect the label that meant so much to so many people… That was our goal anyway... but as in all things, it doesn't always work out as we have planned... Our new lineup consisted of The Clergy (who had reformed themselves after 9 years off) and The Stivs (new project from Cliffy of the Huntingtons, now of the Main Line Riders) both of which broke up shortly after their records came out, leaving the label in a bit of a quandry as to what to do... so this last year has been super slow and contemplative as we tried to work things out... well, we're finally able to move ahead again and we've got a solid lineup that could proove to be just the ones we need to breath new life into the label... Voice of the Mysterons (the new band in Scotland from Otto - vocalist of Blaster the Rocket Man), The Scurvies (Alaskian old school punkers...) and our newest additions The Filthy 42's from New Jersey… keep an eye out for our growing new roster and check back regularly as we slowly (in true BTH fashion) but surely get things moving again!!
