The Trenwith brothers grew up in Hamilton, New Zealand, in a family soaked in musical ability. The oldest streets in the riverside city were the stomping ground for the active brothers.
Sam’s love of saxophone, and all things jazz, took the brothers on a musical journey, through James Brown funk, mixed with the roots-bluegrass sound, that had taken their parent’s band, the Hamilton County Bluegrass Band, to international acclaim.

The teenage years were creative for the brothers. Sam’s energy turned to playing guitar and songwriting, while Tim’s melodic bass playing became the solid foundation, and their tight harmonies became the icing on the Trenwith ‘cake’.
Their high school band projects were successful, and the brothers developed a unique funky-rock sound, influenced by Lenny Kravitz, and soon became the party-band that got the dance-floor rocking.
Sam and Tim’s teenage band, The Kumquats, recorded two albums which had songs on high rotation on national radio, with one song reaching Number 1, and remaining there for weeks, as voted by the public. The Kumquats soon disbanded and became Radiator, with younger brother Michael creating newer, funkier sounds on old-skool, 70’s synthesizer’s, and adding textures on guitar.

Radiator, now with the addition of the dynamite Brendon Rickard on drums, stormed onto the scene with a renewed fire for getting crowds moving and hearts pumping. Sam has a passion for spreading positive, encouraging messages through his music, and at the same time entertaining an audience with an action-packed, rocking show.
The super-tight four-piece released their debut, 13-track, album ‘Love, Hope and Distortion, in December ’07 to many anxiously waiting fans. You are promised some unique ‘dirty-funk’, some classic rock, a few soulful ballads and powerful thought-provoker’s, topped off with some old-skool funk.
Radiator has played alongside Autozamm, Late 80’s Mercedes, Goodnight Nurse, Steriogram, Eight, Arms Reach, Mumsdollar, Brian Platt, The Anthem and many more.
Radiator has a strong history in music, entertaining and songwriting, and they are guaranteed a very exciting future.
