Well...where do (did) we start?? As band members and friends, we originated in Northland with myself (vocals/guitar) & Harlem (guitar) meeting at school in Kaitaia College. Harlem blazed into my music class in '94 and blew the school to shreds, stealing the teachers show (RIP music teacher/good friend, George Allen) busting out Joe Satriani & Steve Vai songs as if they were his own. The rest of us grommets were still trying to suss the intro to "Sweet child of mine". I soon lassooed Harlem and we formed our first covers band together in '94 called THIRD EYE. We were stoked to find we had similar interests and taste in music, such as SEPULTURA, CARCASS, CANNIBAL CORPSE, MORBID ANGEL, SLAYER etc...HAHA...although we're not so much into death metal these days. We tried for a while to find a vocalist for our band and with no such luck, I started singing (yelling) for the band playing metal like METALLICA, PANTERA, SEPULTURA & grunty stuff like that. I was stoked that I could actually sing, semi in key & I began to enjoy myself... Harlem moved away South in '96 but as close friends we stayed in contact and reunited to form Lapser in 2002 writing our own original music. Our taste in music (like everything) has changed somewhat through the years, but we will always look up to our influences for how we write and feel the music we express ourselves through...Since it's formation, Lapser has had other members, Gavin Pukeroa, Shocka, George Curreen (RIP, much loved & missed cousin & friend), but we are solid now with our ass kicking band members and good friends Jeff (Bass) & Kel (drums) who have been with us since 2004.
