Sinfura formed in 2005 by vocalist/guitarist Iliyas Hafiz and bassist James Clynes. The lineup saw it's completion as keyboardist Logan Swinkels joined in late 2006 and drummer Edz Greaves in early 2007. Since then, the current lineup has played an array of shows with other top New Zealand rock/metal acts such as Redline, Cell, Stylus, False Start, Second Theory and These Four Walls.
2007 saw Sinfura have their most successful year as a band to date, they reached many milestones some bands can take years to achieve. This included the release of their debut EP "Lay To Rest" nationwide, filming their first video for debut single Trial And Error, gaining radio play on KiwiFM and making their first TV appearance on ALT TV's Rockzilla. The hype created from releasing the EP and playing numerous shows saw Sinfura reach the finals for Frontier Touring's Taste Of Chaos competition.
This year will see Sinfura striving for bigger and better things as they aim for a record label and to release their debut album by the end of the year. Already the band has released the video for "Trial And Error" which is receiving regular airplay on C4's Select Live, Homegrown and Room 13. The as yet untitled album will showcase the songwriting talents of this young band through a diverse melodic mix of songs that span across rock, metal and post-hardcore genres.
