Evan's Dilemma originally started fall 1990 in Greenville, SC. The band was one of the earliest alternative powerpop bands in South Carolina. Evan's Dilemma played local and regional shows and eventually relocated to Tennessee. After five years of skirting with record labels, performing with bands such as Collective Soul and Superdrag, and being produced and managed by Armand John Petri (Goo Goo Dolls, 10,000 Maniacs), the members were pulled into other directions and musical endeavors.
Ebert, Heuer, and McCreight collaborated with Drue Bachmann forming My Friend Stephanie in 1995 and put the debut album "Makeover". Vocalist Joel McCreight joined Forefront recording artist, Geoff Moore and the Distance and toured with Newsboys and Plankeye on the "Take Me To Your Leader World Tour" in 1996-1997. McCreight also co-wrote, recorded, and toured Grammy nominated GMD album "Threads" in 1997-1998. After Geoff Moore and the Distance broke up, McCreight played guitar for critically acclaimed and award winning Gotee recording artist Jennifer Knapp and played on the dcTalk "Supernatural" Tour as well as played for the Pope on his 1999 American visit. Drummer Kevin Heuer and Chris Ebert went on to make addtional My Friend Stephanie albums. In 1998, Heuer joined critically acclaimed Bill Mallonnee and the Vigilanties of Love. Heuer recorded several albums, a live DVD, and played on several American and European tours and music festivals.
In 2005, McCreight put the band back together to do the first official album of new songs (a couple of older unrecorded tunes also) and also play live again. Two new players were added to the three original members to create a new and improved five-piece band.
"This band was always dear to us even though we accomplished many other endeavors. We always had a reputation for our live shows and our unique blend of original alternative power pop/rock. It was truly a shame that the band never got its first CD out during the first five years amidst many opportunities on the table in the early to mid-nineties. We are now back to rewrite history. Shine Baby Shine is a passionate album and was alone worth us getting back together again. We will release 1 or 2 albums worth of our old songs next year also."
