SONG INSIDE ME...Michele's long-awaited, full-length debut CD, was co-produced by seminal California Bay Area guitarist/arranger/producer Johnny V Vernazza (Gold Record winning Elvin Bishop Band alumni) and was one of the Blues Foundation's International Blues Challenge 2006 "BEST SELF-PRODUCED CD" Final Four and a San Diego Music Award's 2005 "BEST BLUES ALBUM" Nominee. SONG INSIDE ME features nine self-penned originals among 12 tracks and, along with her own band, luminaries such as slide-master Roy Rogers guest. SONG INSIDE ME has hit the airwaves on Triple A and college stations across the U.S. and Canada and abroad in Australia, France, Belgium, England, Spain, Israel, the Netherlands, Belgrade, Italy, Russia, etc. It made the Top 10, Top 25, Top 100 of 2005 on a variety of stations and currently 10 weeks in the Top 50 on the Blues-Roots Charts.
Influences: Growing up in Oakland, CA, music was always the centerpiece and staff of life for Michele. My mom had a varied collection of albums like Harry Belfonte, The Righteous Brothers, Ray Charles, Mahalia Jackson and African and Island sounds! Then I heard Aretha and Tina Turner and I was really taken in!" Influenced by that commanding, Gospel/Soul sound, Micheles own musical expressions exude attitude and confidence...but especially honesty.
Sounds Like: Often described as "Janis Joplin meets Bonnie Raitt" (or think Lydia Pense, Bonnie Bramlett).
Here's a sample video of Michele performing her original title track at the 1st National Women In Blues Festival, Nov 2006, Wilmington, NC.
