In an age when music speaks to us in an amalgam of voices and defies simplicity, for we’ve invented words that have become complex definitions of what sound is, we still try to capture its melody within a single beat as it enters into our minds and flows within the depths of our souls. As we invariably give way to the feelings the vibrations produce over and over, within, the experience is examined and re-examined by our third-eye, awakening our senses, allowing for a full spectrum of thought, guided by the hemispheres of our now cognizant minds, in order that we might synthesize the elements of sounds, images and words that deliver into our lives a new breed of poetic song called conscious hip hop.Conscious hip hop is an aesthetic language embodying a myriad of musical and linguistic styles infused with mindful lyrics. Melodies pour out from musical instruments and words roll off of poetic tongues, rendering prophetic messages that leave listeners in awe. Students of hip hop edutainment are thoughtfully awakened and empowered by the knowledge of an elevated self-made spirit-(wo)man.So when my head bounces and my body rocks it is not just because I’m hooked; it’s because I’m being transformed by a higher state of mind that creates music and words that move me.But what happens when the music and the words no longer Sound Right? When it rings in our ears and flows through our bodies and breed disharmony. It is then that Reason forces me to lower the volume of that heavy chaos screaming into my ear and play something different, maybe something new. And so I turn the dial to another station on my radio and tune into a brand of music that makes me rise again. A kind of music made and prescribed by higher minds of conscious hip hop, Sound Right Reason.Sound Right Reason is a true hip hop collective comprised of two M.C.'s Hush and L.A.W., surfacing out of Bridgeport and Norwalk Connecticut. This dynamic duo places emphasis on the original flavor of beats and rhyme versus “A whatever sells records tactics often used by most artist/labels.†These two unique men met while each being members of the groups Third Eye Thinkaz (L.A.W.) and Extended Fam (Hush). After recognizing one another’s unparalleled talents they joined forces to become one of the illest hip hop groups to bless a mic in Connecticut, The Underground Nation.With the release of their debut album "The Medicine Cabinet", and its first single "I Stand", these two have definitely set an indelible mark within the tri-state area.
