Yesod, born Fredrick Douglas Knowles, is a Poet-Educator-Activist involved in Community Education and the Performing Arts. In 2001 and 2005, he competed on the Connecticut and Brooklyn, NY National Poetry Slam Teams. In 2002, he developed Social-Emotional Artistry, interactive workshops infusing creative writing with life skills. Yesod's works have featured in the Martin Luther King Jr. Anthology, published by Yale University Press (2003), East Haddam Stage Company of Connecticut, (2004), the 13th Annual Acacia Group Conference at California State University, Folio-- a Southern Connecticut State University literary magazine (2005) and Fingernails Across the Chalkboard: AIDS Anthology by Third World Press (2006). He released his debut CD: The Conduit in 2005.
In May of 2007 he finished his MA in English at Southern Connecticut State University where he now teaches English Composition and infuses it with social issues such as AIDS, hunger, poverty, and war. In the meantime, Yesod works ..ing Black Rose City, a collection of autobiographical poems.
