About Me

Though Phil Craig, who earned his degree in music at Bath Spa University College, had aspirations to be a rock drummer, he became enthralled with the club scene after being introduced to it by the early developments of broken beat. The young producer, who also produces under the moniker Nightbeat, and as part of the MobettahmusiQ collective, says he was motivated to explore the scene because I could be the whole band combining my own beats with my own music and harmonies. Basically, trying to express what was in my mind. Citing influences as diverse as Frank Zappa, John Adams, Bach and Masters At Work, his musical focus was mainly classical and Jazz, though he would later come to embrace more electronic-based digital forms of music production. Getting his start at the age of just seven, the Hertfordshire based musician/producer played in various bands and orchestras during his formative years and has been in projects as far afield as Bulgaria. With an 18-year stint as a musician, Bristol-born Phil Craig whether he is tinkling away on keyboards or banging out a syncopated rhythm on drums, has an uncanny knack for a groove.....I produce music, perform as a Drummer/percussionist, teach, conduct... Whatever it takes really. I am one third of the WAH Syndicate with Elroy "Spoonface" Powell and Michael "Kaspa" Gosling. A North London based Production team whose music tends to fall in the Broken Beat Bin. Releases include "Now that we found love" EP for Nepenta and "Madness Gwaanin" on the Burnt Progress Compliation album. I also work with Bulgarian singer songwriter Eugenia Geogieva. Producing gentler, reflective neo-soul/nu jazz music. I have also just teamed up with Duchess, a talented singer so watchout for that!PLEASE CHECK www.myspace.com/faada for release news!
